SummaryDaiichi Sankyo is in a period of rapid growth and transformation. As the company leverages its first-in-class and best-in-class medicines that are transforming and improving standards of care across a range of cancers, the Global Business Development (GBD) organization is evolving to meet the needs of a top-10 global oncology company. The Global External Innovation organization will play a key leadership role in the twin pillars of this evolution: ensuring Daiichi Sankyo leadership's alignment on external-innovation priorities and driving operational excellence across Global Business Development and the company's external-innovation efforts. Reporting to the Vice President - Global External Innovation (GEI), this role will be responsible for supporting the creation of two new cross-functional leadership teams that will be responsible for translating Daiichi Sankyo's key corporate business, strategic and scientific goals into actionable external-innovation priorities and ensuring that the relevant processes and projects deliver against these priorities. These responsibilities will include benchmarking industry standards in External Innovation engagement, identifying best practices, customizing approach appropriate to DS for consideration by the cross-functional team. In addition to the above, this role will broadly support the GBD organization's mission, ensuring GBD has the necessary skills, tools, processes and governance required to meet the needs of DS. These include but aren't limited to consistent business case development with data and insights required for decision support, KPI development in support of G&Os, identification of required reporting to enable cross-functional leadership team, process development and tracking, and management of key projects.
Responsibilities
- Assess current global practices in External Innovation and business development, identify best-in-class approaches, collaborate with GEI team to develop a customized approach appropriate to DS for consideration by the cross-functional team. Include robust business processes, templates, tools, metrics, and tracking. Review and update, as necessary, governance for GBD activities.
- Prepare briefing books and materials for global senior leadership meetings, including regular updates to global leadership on high-priority internal processes and external-innovation trends.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive GBD after-action review process to ensure the organization is learning from experience. Update processes to codify learnings.
- Collaborate with the other members of GBD on projects of importance.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)
- Master's Degree Master's degree required required Experience Qualifications
- 4 or More Years 6-8 years of experience in the life-sciences and/or consulting industry. Experience and an understanding of business development, strategy development & implementation, pharmaceutical development, and project management. required
- 4 or More Years Management and/or strategy consulting experience preferred. preferred
- 4 or More Years Experience working across regions in a globally-diverse, multinational company. preferred TravelAbility to travel up to 20% Domestic and international travel
