Salary Range: $40.7000 - $67.1400 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The director of GIFT PLANNING, will (a) actively engage in direct identification, qualification and solicitation of planned gifts, (b) work closely with development team and prospect management to identify and qualify new and existing planned giving donors, (c) collaborate with team members to assist in procuring planned gifts, (d) assist Executive Director, Gift Planning with marketing activities for GIFT PLANNING including events, donor recognition and stewardship programs, (e) in collaboration with Executive Director, Gift Planning, assist in follow up processes for leads generated by marketing initiatives implemented by GIFT PLANNING, (f) support Foundation Staff and volunteers in GIFT PLANNING and other activities, and (g) work with volunteer staff to identify and cultivate GIFT PLANNING donors. This experienced fundraising leader will play a central role in building the pipeline of support for planned gifts.

Key Functions:
- Develop and actively manage a portfolio of approximately 75-100 planned giving prospects
- Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit planned gifts
- Recruit, train and motivate volunteers in activities designed to identify and cultivate potential GIFT PLANNING prospects
- Collaborate with various departments within Hoag to support the successful stewardship of GIFT PLANNING donors
- Work collaboratively with other Directors and the constituent Development team for the benefit of Hoag and its donors
- Prioritize the qualification of currently unmanaged planned giving prospects
- Mentor junior colleagues and work with administrative support staff in a collaborative manner
- Successfully represent the vision of the future of Hoag to potential donors and community members
- Support Foundation staff and volunteers in major gift donor recognition, stewardship and communication activities
- Work with the Foundation's events department to ensure successful donor cultivation at events
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Juris Doctor Preferred
- 5 years of progressively more responsible fundraising experience preferably in higher education and/or healthcare, ideally with campaign experience, as well as managerial, strategic planning and motivational skills
- Ability to work in a very collaborative way to achieve targeted results; the director of development, major gifts will be comfortable working in a complex organization such as a university/college, research-driven or medical environment, and have a track record of designing and executing comprehensive fundraising efforts.
- Familiarity with fundraising database software and systems preferred; proven record of successful major gift cultivation and solicitation ($100K+). Interest in or background in neurosciences is an additive.
