Job description

Position Summary The Director of Equity Training & Development is part of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team. The Director of Equity Training & Development reports to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and is responsible for building capacity and infrastructure for proactive and responsive equity-based training and professional development for staff, faculty, and students, with a focus on antiracism education. The role is responsible for management and facilitation of training initiatives, as well as consultations and collaborations to leverage strategic partnerships to bridge equity-focused training across campus.

This is a temporary project position and expected to end on 06/30/2025. Extension of the position is dependent on availability of funds. Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Position Salary Range: $90,705/yearr - $131,522/year The salary information shown above is a general guideline only.

The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $100,909/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule. We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which means that you are not eligible for overtime pay.

About the Department The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) primary function at Bellevue College is a cultural commitment to inclusion. We understand the root causes of inequity and disrupt behaviors that sustain systems of power through continuous learning and collaborative practices.

We are responsible for compliance with policies covering discrimination, harassment, equal opportunity, and prevention. Essential Functions Management & Facilitation Oversee, develop, and lead equity-based training and development opportunities. Conduct campus wide equity-based training and professional development offerings tailored to the unique needs of staff, faculty, and students.

Oversee Professional Development Day, a campus-wide conference on advancing equity & inclusion. Lead Professional Development Day committee, recruit presenters, and manage conference operations. Lead and direct the Equity Education Advisory Committee to track and manage projects.

Audit, track, and develop an inventory of equity-based training offerings across the campus. Assess and evaluate professional development offerings to determine institutional gaps, needs, progress, and effectiveness. Establish and manage a campus-wide Intergroup Dialogue program for students to explore issues of identity through one-time and series-based offerings.

Supervise designated full-time, part-time staff including hiring new staff, making recommendations for disciplinary action, approving/denying leave requests, evaluating employee performance. Recruit, train, and supervise a cohort of facilitators to lead dialogues and professional development opportunities. Manage student facilitators to support equity-focused training goals.

Manage, develop, plan, and monitor budgets and expenditures assure compliance with college policies and other administrative procedures Consultancy & Collaborations Leverage strategic partnerships to bridge equity-focused training across campus and scale for increased impact. Lead the college in strategic planning of equity-focused training by identifying and addressing gaps. Research and implement data informed practices for antiracism and equity-based training in higher education in partnership with regional and national professional associations.

Establish a system and criteria for campus-wide training and professional development requests, based on campus needs and strategic, high impact campus partnerships. Partner with key campus stakeholders and other community colleges to identify training needs, topics, and content areas. Collaborate with strategic campus leaders to assess and further develop implementation of equity-focused training and professional development opportunities.

Audit and provide strategic guidance in the content development of equity-driven HR training initiatives. Serve as a liaison for Faculty Commons and other faculty-based antiracism and Equity Training and professional development initiatives as outline in collective bargaining agreements. Participate in Achieving the Dream professional development team.

Partner with Guided Pathways to advance equity-focused training for students. Support ODEI staff with scaffolding of training for staff & faculty screening committee members upholding equity in hiring processes. Support Social Justice & Diversity Director with the management of a Queer & Trans People of Color (QTPOC) staff & faculty conference.

Develop and maintain a library of professional resources and offerings that address equity and inclusion issues and competencies, based on campus, regional, and national issues & trends. Develop and manage external vendor and contractor relationships. Project Address ad hoc requests and special projects as necessary.

Other Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a regionally- accredited college. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in developing, leading, and managing equity & inclusion-based training initiatives, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate strategic partnerships and coalitions. Demonstrate an understanding of equity, systemic oppression, social justice, and inclusion in higher education, utilizing advanced facilitation skills and various learning modalities for equity focused-training in diverse formats. Proficient in data assessment, tracking and analyzing to identify institutional professional development needs and design/evaluate training opportunities using institutional data.

Demonstrate skills in event/conference management, and effective written/verbal communication with a focus on inclusive language, addressing the unique needs of faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrate experience in managing and monitoring budgets. Demonstrate experience in collaborating with cross-departmental groups to accomplish college-wide goals.

Demonstrate experience in supervising both full-time and part-time employees Demonstrate experience with leading Intergroup Dialogue. Demonstrate experience working with diverse colleagues and students in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
