The Pokémon Company International, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company in Japan, manages the property outside of Asia and is responsible for brand management, licensing, marketing, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the animated TV series, home entertainment, and the official Pokémon website. Pokémon was launched in Japan in 1996 and today is one of the most popular children's entertainment properties in the world.

  • Job Title: Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Social Responsibility
  • Job Summary: The Director Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Social Responsibility facilitates and promotes The Pokémon Company International’s (TPCi) global culture of innovation, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. This role will partner with the DEISR Team to build diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and Social Responsibility (SR) initiatives and programs to influence employee engagement, talent acquisition, talent management, charitable community engagement and marketplace opportunities across our global team to engage and retain talent and foster relationships in local and global communities. This role will ensure that the core elements of TPCi culture are well-defined and ever-present to employees, highlighting engagement as an essential component to support a positive, diverse, inclusive, innovative, and high-achieving environment. This position will report to the Vice President and Chief Diversity Equity & Inclusion Officer (CDO), lead the DEISR team, and will partner with stakeholders across the organization and operate as an internal business consultant.

What You’ll Do 

  • Serve as a direct people leader for the DEI&SR department, including mentorship and development responsibilities for members of the team. 50% of the time will be direct leadership, guidance, and development of the existing team, 50% will be strategy implementation. 
  • Partner with the CDO to develop and execute a global Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Responsibility strategy that amplifies TPCi’s creative culture, talent brand and employment value proposition, including the communication and education strategy to highlight TPCi’s commitment and comprehension of DEI. 
  • Drive alignment of DEI goals with business strategy for both internal employees, external fans and the communities we serve; collaborate in developing and integrating DEI goals into business processes, practices, and programs to help grow and retain a diverse workforce.
  • Partnership with HRBPs in the development and implementation of strategic diversity and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Collaboration across Talent Management to address training, recruiting, on-boarding, and strategic outreach programs related to Global DEISR and engagement.
  • Partnership with Talent Acquisition to strengthen diversity sourcing strategies and align with key diversity sourcing associations and vendors to support workforce equity. 
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on employer branding initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with TPCi operational leadership to apply a Global DEISRI lens to marketplace activities.
  • Provide thought leadership and expertise in creating and supporting appropriate DEI infrastructure, such as an advisory council and/or Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
  • Organize and create employee-focused events including company updates, employee engagement and appreciation. Provide strong guidance for the DEISR team to manage events from agenda setting to promotion and execution.
  • Lead and partner within the team to broaden and execute global corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy that is aligned with TPCi’s culture, values and business goals. 
  • Communicate and lead the company’s Social Responsibility and community initiatives, including corporate giving, sponsorships, matching gifts and volunteerism.
  • Identify and communicate the benefits of a strong CSR practice to internal stakeholders, aligning CSR initiatives to key business priorities.
  • Identify and build critical partnerships to help further CSR goals and objectives.
  • Respond to internal and external requests regarding CSR practices, progress and opportunities.
  • Manage dialog and partnership with Benevity; existing charitable giving platform.
  • Remain current on the laws, regulations, and policies, pertaining to Equal Employment Opportunity programs and provide leadership on this across the organization. 
  • Lead and partner with team to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and accountability mechanisms to keep the organization focused on DEI goals while translating data and recommendations into concrete actions. Define measurements of success and establish metrics and dashboards to inform strategic planning, decision making, track engagement and community outreach related to DEI and CSR initiatives/performance.
  • Hold self and others accountable by modeling company values and translate strategic objectives into actionable items that inspire others to behave and operate at their best.   


What You’ll Bring 

  • Twelve+ (12+) years of relevant professional experience, plus five (5) years of people management experience or a demonstrated equivalent level of expertise.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a demonstrated equivalent level of applicable experience.
  • Experience as a DEI practitioner and leader of an array of DEI topics including resources, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent technical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Solutions-orientation approach.
  • Proven track record of success in cultivating relationships through collaboration including working with senior leadership.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Base salary range: For this role, new hires generally start between $178,000-$211,850. The full range is $178,000-$267,000. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
