We are looking for a Director to lead efforts pertaining to Digital Technology Communications and Technology Change Management of our global Digital Technology (DT) Department.
The Director, Digital Technology Communications and Change Management is a communications subject matter expert and is responsible for helping drive internal communication, Change Management and engagement initiatives across the Global DT organization. Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Chief Digital Officer (CDO), this key role interacts regularly with multiple levels of the DT organization from leadership to cross-functional stakeholders to provide communications counsel and implement strategic communications in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role will collaborate closely with the Global Communications Organization and the Global Change Management team to ensure alignment with corporate efforts.
Location: Remote, within the United States
Four key near-to-medium term efforts for strategic communications are:
  • Executive / Leadership alignment in establishing service level agreements for meeting the demands of regional/field organizations and our functional partners.
  • The DT Operating Model on how and where work is done leveraging centers of excellence, captive organization, digital hubs. Reorient the new organization on their roles in the plan-build-run approach.
  • Core employee competencies for the future of work balancing the redeploying & retraining needed internal talent against cost effective external sourcing of non-core work.
  • Employee Engagement leveraging tools such as the bi-annual Pulse Survey and how to engage employees, enrich their company experience, and improve value to the company.

The Director applies consistent use of internal Communications and multi-channel communication strategies to deepen an internal understanding of a wide range of business strategies, capabilities, new initiatives, and performance metrics, while enhancing culture and engagement for employees. The role of the Director is to help employees be informed, inspired, and empowered with relevant, accessible, and targeted messages and content.
This position supports the CDO and senior DT staff when they communicate internally to broad audiences. Internal communication accountabilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining an internal communication strategy and tactical plan for DT. The tactical plan will involve building a rhythm to inform employees of ongoing successes, progress, and relevant business updates.
The Director interacts regularly with multiple levels of the DT organization to deliver impactful engagement and learning experiences to better inform, develop, and prepare DT employees and cross-functional partners, to deliver on strategic imperatives with excellence.
Key success factors include building effective partnerships with leadership and across the business, superior verbal, and written communications, leading via influence and being highly proactive to propose thoughtful initiatives and communications to support and drive the business priorities. This position will also support external engagements focused on executive visibility will be responsible for building out and executing an external affairs engagement plan.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • This role is highly focused on change and internal communications as we evolve our global operating model to a more digital and connected environment .
  • Design and execute a communications strategy that brings the DT narrative to life through compelling content, creative storytelling and engaging experiences including virtual and in-person meetings, town halls, interactive Q&As, and rich written, digital, and video communications.
  • Support external media/industry opportunities and social presence for CDO.
  • Lead in the design and development of key engagement events that help bring the DT vision to life through compelling content, and engaging experiences including, but not limited to, town halls, interactive Q&As, as well as learning and development events.
  • Assist CDO Staff in the strategic planning and execution of internal communication and content strategies. Reinforces global DT Communications and initiatives.
  • Assist in fostering an inclusive culture through meaningful collaboration and active participation. Internally and externally model our ways of working grounded in empathy, respect, and trust.
  • Manage scope, project plan, logistics and schedule of strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Proactively plan and manage Legal and HR content reviews and identify which audience segments need to receive a communication or tailored version of the communication (e.g., employees vs. contractors).
  • Stay up to date on the changing digital landscape to ensure optimal strategy across existing channels, as well as recommending new platforms for consideration.
  • Write communications, including speech writing and portal updates as needed.
  • Leverage DT tools, and propose new methods, to measure the success of internal communications initiatives. Embraces a spirit of improving and evolving internal communications based on audience needs and engagement.

Education/Certifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or marketing related roles, or equivalent years of related experience.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in communications, public relations, or marketing related roles (internal, executive, external, digital social media communications).
  • Advanced knowledge of communication strategy and current trends in communication technology and multi-channel communication strategies.
  • Advanced written, oral, and digital communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks that are time sensitive in high-pressure situations.
  • Working knowledge of the market including trends and issues as they relate to Otis.
  • Works well with cross-functional stakeholders and can own projects from idea phase to implementation, adapting and iterating as needed.
  • Outcomes-focused with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated relationship management, interpersonal skills, ability to motivate, lead, influence, and engage without direct authority.
  • Able to see connections between seemingly disparate issues and distill complex content into clear, concise, and engaging communications.
  • Possesses integrity, agility, accountability, and self-awareness.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Corporate communications in a large global company.
  • Proven experience in reflecting a senior leader's "voice" when crafting written messages and talking points.
  • Proven experience in creating communications strategies and messages that embody, resonate, and align with a collaborative and inclusive organization.
  • Proven experience in developing and publishing communications including stakeholder reviews of content.
