The Director Dental Hygiene - Embedded will play an integral role on the El Rio Health Dental Leadership Team and is responsible for direct planning, execution and oversight of activities, actions, and services, related to embedded hygiene/hygienists, within the assigned dental clinic(s).
The Director Dental Hygiene Embedded (DDHE) will assist the Senior Dental Director, Dental Directors (General Dentistry), Health Center Managers (HCM), and Associate Health Center Managers (AHCM) Dental Leadership Team (DLT) with oversight and coordination of the Dental Hygiene operations ensuring the provision of quality comprehensive dental care to a variety of clinic patients, in an efficient and cost-effective manner. In conjunction with the guidance and leadership of the DLT, the Director Dental Hygiene Embedded plans, assesses, directs, develops, implements, and evaluates clinical and administrative functions and operations of El Rio Health Clinics.
The DDHE provides supervision for the Registered Dental Hygienists (Embedded) to ensure the delivery of effective and appropriate quality patient care that is consistent with established regulatory, licensing, and practice standards and requirements. The Dental Hygiene Director (Embedded) is a member of the clinical staff and engages in the delivery of dental care in conjunction with budgetary, staffing, quality, and other managerial functions of the teams, which support the mission, and goals of El Rio Health.
The primary goal of the El Rio Health Director Dental Hygiene - Embedded is to support El Rio's Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's in Dental Hygiene from an accredited dental program.
- Five (5) years of experience as a Dental Hygienist; preferably in an integrated health care system.
- Seven (7) years' supervisory or management experience preferably in a dental setting.
If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
- Licensure from the Board of Dental Examiners, State of Arizona.
- Must have and maintain a current Arizona state dental license including prescriptive authority.
- Must have and maintain a current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency License (DEA) for prescribing controlled substances.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.
- Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
- Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver's license and must be in compliance with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.
Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:
- Master's in Public Health, Business Administration, or Health Administration
- Seven (7) years of experience as a Dental Hygienist; preferably in an integrated health care system.
- Ten (10) years' supervisory or management experience, preferably in a dental setting.
- Bilingual English/Spanish with the ability to speak, read, and write in both languages.
