SUMMARY:
The Director of Decision Support is a strategic and critical leadership role responsible for supporting and enhancing on-going analytics to enable core and emerging capabilities across clinical, performance, hospital operations, and corporate functions. The Director of Decision Support will play a key part in developing and delivering the actionable insights needed for Strategy formulation for the expanding enterprise. In partnership with the information services data management team, the Director will foster efforts for data driven operational management in all care environments and across the revenue cycle. This leader will also evaluate and leverage external data assets to assist to ensure external trends are incorporated into TMC's strategy and tactics. This leader will be a mentor to analysts and a partner to leaders across the organization to ensure insights are relevant, correct, and improve performance. Leading a team of senior analysts, the Director will ensure that organization leaders have key opportunities identified to allow for strategic focus and tactical delivery on the highest yield initiatives across growth, quality, service and stewardship. The role reports to the System Chief Financial Officer and has a matrixed reporting to the System Chief Information Officer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to assess opportunities and develop data driven solutions.
Responsible for driving cultural change and promoting data-driven decision making and investment planning.
Responsible for plans to optimize implementation of decisions to check whether the desired change is happening as expected and having the intended impact.
Provides management visibility into data-driven insights that inform business's strategic direction and KPI's.
Partner closely with stakeholders and IT teams to support development of innovative analytics solutions and products.
Ensure insights can be implemented as appropriate into key decision workflows such as executive decisions and clinical/operational workflows (e.g., electronic health record, workforce, and inventory management systems).
Provide thought leadership in application of state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning techniques.
Develop and deploy industry-leading machine learning models, aimed at problems across various organization functions.
Help develop Advanced Analytics and identify areas of new and useful opportunity for data science and analytics.
Set and ensure standards and guidelines are being used by team to develop re-usable common frameworks, models, and components that address repeatable tasks and problem/data sets in specific industries or business functions.
Share learnings and drive adoption of best demonstrated practices with rest of the analytics team and the data management team about technical developments in the rapidly evolving data science field, collaborate with the open-source community, and work together to create a great working environment that attracts other great data scientists.
Develop relationships with external data and analytics vendors and interact as needed.
Keep abreast of new and current data science techniques and technologies.
Act as an ambassador and coach towards analytics team to raise their capabilities and ensure that our work is successfully deployed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Advanced Degree, Masters or equivalent certification in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Statistics or Information Sciences such as business analytics or informatics
EXPERIENCE: Eight (8) years of system application maintenance experience. Three (3) years of supervisory or management experience. Leadership in prior Decision Support roles preferred Healthcare Experience across provider, payer, and community organizations preferable.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Track record of leading and collaborating on strategic initiatives across complex, growing organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and influence executive, clinical, finance, and operational leaders.
• Solid fundamental knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply statistical and machine learning techniques including exploratory, forecasting, predictive/prescriptive, and causal/effect/cost use cases.
• Experience with modern, open source, cloud native tools including Python, R, and Apache Spark.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging and influencing Epic transactional and analytic tools.
• Demonstrated ability to deploy data science tools within common business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI) to uplevel broad groups of analytic staff and ensure decision maker insights are correct, consistent, and transparent.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain and discuss statistical and machine learning techniques with colleagues and clients from other disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to provide model interpretability techniques and presentation skills to achieve organizational change.
• Ability to work independently and juggle priorities to thrive in a fast-paced environment, while also collaborating as part of a team in complex situation.
