Microsoft's Monetization and Business Planning organization directs our commercial portfolio's pricing, packaging, licensing, channel, and monetization strategies. Few teams exist that have such a direct impact on Microsoft and the entire industry.
The Director, Commercial Licesnsing Strategy will have an opportunity to lead the Commercial Licensing Strategy organization responsible for defining, enabling, marketing, and landing licensing strategies that span Azure, M365, D365, and all software. In this unique position within Microsoft, you'll lead a team that directly influences business strategy, takes ownership of its successful implementation, and represent the needs of field, partner and customer audiences in our licensing strategies across Microsoft's product portfolio. You will also be leading our generative artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives to enhance customer experiences with Microsoft licensing.

Responsibilities
How you can make an impact:
- Lead and evolve Licensing Strategy for all Microsoft Commercial products.
- Partner with other Business Planners and leaders across Microsoft Cloud Marketing, field, and legal teams to identify and lead new business strategies to enhance customer and partner licensing experiences and create new monetization opportunities.
- Directly influence Business Planning and C-suite executives through 1:1 guidance on Licensing Strategy and presenting new business strategies.
- Optimize the development, launch and delivery of hundreds of licensing updates each year across multiple languages.
- Identify and lead initiatives to leverage generative AI to enhance field and customer experiences with Microsoft licensing.
- Attract, retain, and grow a team of business planning and operations talent. Lead with trust, inclusion and valuing diverse perspectives and ideas.
- Coach your team to grow their analytical, strategic, business, executive communications, and operational excellence capabilities.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in licensing, business strategy, business development, product management or related experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of technology industry experience.
- 3+ years of people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
- OR 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years people management experience.
- Understanding of Microsoft licensing and commercial agreements.
- Experience in developing business strategies through sound business judgement, collaboration, data benchmarking and validation through research and testing.
- Experience driving strategy changes and results, while planning for successful landing and execution.
- Experience working across diverse stakeholders and influencing positive outcomes.
Business Planning M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $242,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $264,000 per year.
