The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the MetroHealth System is seeking a Director of Midwifery to lead in the creation of a new, full-scope, comprehensive program and to help recruit additional midwives to meet our starting goal of 5 CNMs including the Director. The midwifery team will be joining a supportive and highly skilled team of physicians and APPs including our division of 20 generalist OB-GYN physicians, along with our team of 11 subspecialists, 20 residents, 10 fellows and 8 Advanced Practice Providers. The midwifery team, while functioning independently with respect to the inpatient and outpatient care of patients (office management, admissions/deliveries/prescribing/discharge), will work collaboratively with the faculty of the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology. The midwives will be a highly valued and supported division with the OB/GYN department. Participation in diverse activities such as clinical education and research is the expectation. Reporting structure will be directly to the OB/GYN Department Chair.
Applicants must hold a graduate degree in midwifery, hold current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board, and be capable of offering full-scope midwifery care. The Director role requires prior leadership experience and a demonstrated track record of team building, successful recruitment, superb communication skills and high emotional intelligence. The Director will work closely with departmental and system leadership to create and grow a superb program. Fluency in Spanish, continuous quality improvement, and research is preferred. The salary is competitive.
The MetroHealth System is redesigning our campus with an innovative transformation plan to exceed the ever-changing needs of our patients and community programs. This billion-dollar transformation is the largest public construction project in Cuyahoga County and one of the largest in the nation. In November 2022 the MetroHealth community moved into the new hospital, featuring 270 private rooms and new state of the art facilities to support our patients and staff. In January 2023, the new Labor and Delivery and NICU opened. MetroHealth is also a national leader in population health initiatives and improving the social determinants of community health. We invite you to be our partner in this important journey as we strive to transform health care in Northeast Ohio.
