The Opportunity:

Your role at Sephora:

As the Director, Category Engagement and Brand Operations, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive, client-centric training, content, and brand partnership strategies that best support our employees with category, product, and brand knowledge. These strategies will focus on building employee expertise that drives sales and conversion while providing an excellent client experience. You will oversee a team that manages and develops all content related to the training and development of categories and product knowledge, along with how our brands are onboarded to support and operate with our retail stores and Sephora at Kohls locations. This leader must work closely within their direct team to develop skills and drive excellence in program and brand management, quality deliverables, clear communication, and program execution and analysis while meeting key deadlines. You must ensure the voice of the store is always represented in program planning, design, execution, and change management to ensure adoption in stores and drive this mindset with your team and peers. This position will directly report to the Vice President, Client and Business Operations. In addition, you will:

  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand key priorities and build comprehensive business cases to enable fact-based decision making that brings strategic training plans to life.
  • Empower direct teams to take responsibility for their jobs and goals utilizing program best practices. Delegate responsibility and uphold accountability. Provide regular, clear, actionable feedback.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork among the team that allows for differing ideas, conflict resolution, and working effectively together to enable each person and the department to succeed.
  • Employ competitive, innovative, and sustainable training strategies that demonstrates the connection between vision and implementation, solving for immediate requirements while anticipating future needs.
  • Leverage client insights and employee performance data to inform category, product, and brand training and programs.
  • Utilize business insights while identifying KPIs and conducting analysis for all programming linking back to organizational goals.
  • Regularly meet with and present to senior executive leadership across business functions, as well as brand partners, to provide program updates and recommendations to influence strategies to drive efficiency and a positive client and employee experience.
  • Coach, mentor and develop direct reports, including overseeing new employee onboarding, and providing career development planning and opportunities.

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 10+ years of retail operations or learning and development experience in varying capacities including content design, optimization, and change management planning
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in retail operating or brand management functions
  • Obsession with designing pragmatic and streamlined training programs, operations, and process improvement leveraging a design-thinking mindset.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to clearly communicate a vision and drive for innovation
  • Experience leading training and business optimization programs with measurable financial outcomes from concept through successful rollout.
  • Ability to influence business partners at the executive level as well as field/store teams
  • Strong decision quality that is objective and data oriented.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, work ethic, and work product quality
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects being executed by all team members and an ability to speak intelligently about all in flight and upcoming projects
  • Flexibility and adaptability to pivot daily responsibilities as business demand changes
  • Experience building, motivating, and leading high performing teams
  • The ability to travel to stores and field leadership meetings up to 25% of the time

The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000.00 - $190,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
