Purpose: The Director, Cash Management owns traditional treasury processes. This includes delivery of corporate cash requirements and overseeing short-term assets and liabilities. The position will be responsible for monitoring and forecasting cash positions, overseeing bank accounts, and transfer of funds to local, regional, and international offices. The Director, Cash Management also ensures compliance with federal & state regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), audit provisions and CWS policies and procedures. The position provides strategic direction and manages the staff for Cash Management.
Responsibilities: Cash Management
- Monitor short and long-term cash position and provide budget vs. actual cash variance analysis.
- Monitor daily cash flow to ensure adequate resources are available in the operating accounts for planned payments.
- Review, verify and complete all domestic money transfers, wires and foreign currency transactions/requests coming through for payment.
- Process and coordinate intercompany transfers between offices.
- Ensure timely recording of transactions, Cash Management, and banking.
- Manages monthly cash balances and cash flows.
- Coordinates corporate Cash Management and investment strategies with the CFO.
- Ensures strategic focus on Treasury and Cash Management Best Practices and offerings from Banking providers.
Cash Reporting, Receivables, and Reconciliations
- Work with local, regional, headquarters, and country offices ensuring timely processing of grant and funder invoices, drawdowns, and collections.
- Work with the general accounting and income processing staff on accounts receivable and daily revenue processing as needed to support the overall financial operations.
- Ensure reconciliation on bank accounts is completed.
Other Accounting and Finance Tasks
- Serve as a member of financial management team, providing financial expertise to discussions related to both daily operations and long-term strategy.
- Develop, recommend, evaluates, and implement policies and processes as needed.
- Provide financial expertise and relevant reports to the CFO and other senior leadership.
- Perform other duties as directed by the CFO.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
- Seven or more years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in an NGO, foundation, or USG with heavy concentration on budgeting, accounting, financial management, and reporting.
- Solid background and understanding of accounting/financial management principles.
- Excellent critical thinking and project management skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret financial reports, analyze financial data for monitoring adherence to CWS guidelines.
- Flexibility, patience, and the ability to work productively in a team environment and independently.
- Excellent computer skills, preferably Microsoft Office® (Word, Excel, and Outlook in particular).
- Intermediate to Advanced skills with Business Intelligence systems, Data Analytics, or Financial Planning and Analysis Systems and their implementations.
- Demonstrated experience in standard accounting software.
- Moderate to advanced experience running reports within and maintaining a modern HRIS system preferred.
- Attentiveness to detail and accuracy in budgeting, accounting, reporting, and writing.
- Ability to act with sensitivity and discretion while working with highly confidential information.
- Experience in managing people.
