We are seeking a Brand Innovation & Market Insights Director who can accelerate our growth by creating, optimizing, and commercializing a dynamic and disruptive innovation pipeline for the human hair solutions category . The ideal candidate will inspire and challenge us to think differently about the hair extension category and product experience for the stylist and consumer.
This position will be critical in helping our brands deliver against the vision of developing the category and awareness as well as staying the market leader in hair extensions by bringing exceptional Innovation and product launches to the category. The ideal candidate will balance short term commercialization with long term innovation strategy.
Responsibilities
- With guidance from the SVP of Marketing and brand leaders, this person will own the innovation planning cycle from conception through execution for our portfolio of brands
- Partner with technical operations and legal to propose, test and validate innovation for best-in-class claims, education and Marketing segmentation as well as assessing proposed innovation coming from manufacturing
- Partner with the Marketing Director to lead in development of strong integrated product launches supported by 360 marketing campaigns
- Aid in creating innovation that maintains each brands’ unique identity with a strong point of difference in a competitive marketplace
- Lead multi-brand portfolio through processes and briefs submission for product development business case approval
- Leverage resources like syndicated data, consumer insights, and business/consumer, category and industry trends to help make decisions and collaborate cross-functionally enabling team to drive brand growth
- Develops a comprehensive understanding of the hair extension industry by conducting competitive deep dives to better understand the market dynamic
- When asked to dig into an unknown territory, this individual thrives on defining and tackling the plan, outlining the steps to take, making assumptions, and pressure testing the scenarios, ultimately landing on an informed recommendation
- In depth understanding of product P&L and components including pricing strategy, COGS structure, quality, brand portfolio evolution, sku offering, etc
- 5+ years in product innovation, R&D, or brand Marketing in beauty industry
- 5+ years leading large cross-functional projects - especially those with high levels of ambiguity - and gaining alignment with multiple levels of leaders
- Experience and understanding of the professional hair category is perfered but not required
- Strong strategic thinking with proven analytical skills- strong ability to work with other cross functional partners with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to effectively interface at all levels.
- Ability to balance multiple brands with similar products while delivering a distinct POD for each
