Structure
The Director of Annual Giving and Integrated Marketing is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation and reports directly to the Executive Director of Annual Giving and Integrated Marketing.
Focus
The Director's primary area of focus is leading the development and implementation of effective multi-channel direct marketing solicitations to support the priorities of the University of Cincinnati. Additionally, the director will collaborate on the management and execution of a comprehensive Integrated Marketing strategy designed to align and galvanize alumni through the UC Alumni Association. Using an omnichannel approach that incorporates digital and print assets, the director will optimize resources to create a cohesive brand experience for alumni and donors with an emphasis on activating UC's more than 340,000 alumni and soliciting philanthropic support from alumni, donors, and constituents.
Specific Duties

  • Serve on the leadership team for the Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving Department's Annual Giving and Integrated Marketing team. Lead across teams by providing strategic direct marketing guidance to Alumni and Annual Giving colleagues. Ensure that strategies and tactics are aligned with UCAA's strategic direction, wider University priorities and strategic direction, the UC Foundation and Annual Giving program and fundraising goals.
  • Execute on the overall strategic direction and serve as a creative director, brand manager and storyteller for the UC Foundation's omnichannel Annual Giving direct marketing fundraising efforts.
  • Lead and manage Annual Giving direct marketing full-time staff, interns, co-op students and freelance talent effectively.
  • Create and execute a 12-month omnichannel content fundraising strategy and plan for the University of Cincinnati's Annual Giving direct marketing fundraising program. Core direct marketing components include mail, email, video, web, social media, environmental graphics, digital ads, and other channels as determined.
  • Oversee brand standards, creative development, messaging and storytelling for all audiences, alumni, donors, parents, faculty and staff, ambassadors, leadership Annual Giving donors, social media followers and website visitors.
  • Act as the lead project manager for a high-volume Annual Giving direct marketing team to execute a robust content calendar with a strong commitment to accuracy, meeting deadlines, managing brand standards and driving results.
  • Write and contribute to the messaging for direct marketing fundraising campaigns, ensuring the hierarchy of messaging elevates institutional priorities and tells stories of impact through philanthropy.
  • Serve as a member of the Giving Tuesday and UC Day of Giving leadership team. Create and lead an omnichannel direct marketing fundraising strategy for both giving days.
  • Support UCAA's Integrated Marketing efforts, implementing a best-in-class, comprehensive Integrated Marketing and communications strategy for Alumni Association programs and services:
    • Help the Alumni Association and Annual Giving department meet its goals for philanthropy, alumni and donor engagement, participation, and volunteerism, while instilling pride in the University of Cincinnati.
    • Inform constituents about opportunities to actively engage with UC through participation and volunteerism.
    • Educate alumni on the value and mission of the association, as well as the resources, benefits, and services available to them.
    • Infuse an alumni and donor-centric culture of philanthropy in all the organization's marketing strategies.
    • Serve as an external brand ambassador for the UC Alumni Association.
    • Integrate Annual Giving/fundraising messaging into UCAA engagement/marketing pieces, where appropriate.
  • Support the development and execution of the Alumni Association's comprehensive email marketing program. Manage a high-volume, highly segmented email marketing schedule. Create and send html email messages (including design and copywriting) using Blackbaud Internet Solutions (BBIS) email marketing software. Utilize email marketing analytics to learn about recipient interaction with emails and make strategic decisions as a result.
  • Manage all administrative functions of a comprehensive marketing program including tasks associated with leading a professional staff, overseeing a robust budget that maximizes resources, selecting vendors to enable outreach and increase efficiency, managing vendor relationships and freelance talent, serving as a liaison for internal and external partners, representing the brand and organization as needed.
  • Execute a reporting and analytics strategy for the Annual Giving direct marketing team that tracks all departmental outreach, demonstrates the value of tactics and informs future solicitations.
  • Participate in audience development and segmentation strategy sessions.
  • Validate data and work with leadership to resolve issues.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience in higher education Annual Giving, development, or stewardship is preferred, or advanced degree preferred with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Ability to lead staff, prepare and deliver presentations, and manage relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to analyze data in order to develop solicitation strategies and measure outcomes.
  • Ability to develop, support and execute strategic plans; including moves management plans.
  • Knowledge and experience using fundraising databases required. Experience with Blackbaud CRM preferred.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, produce quality work and meet strict deadlines. Highly organized and timely with deliverables.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Self-motivated, team-player.
  • Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, honesty and accountability.

Physical Demands
This position is considered to have light work. Exerting up to 20lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up a negligible of force constantly to move objects. This position requires the operation of a motor vehicle. This position also requires:
