The Director, Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), reports to the Air University Provost and Chief Academic Officer. In conjunction with the Deputy Provost and the Chief of Faculty Relations, the Director ensures the provision of developmental support to faculty and students across all of AU to improve students' attainment of learning outcomes by delivering faculty development programs and developing students' communication skills across all AU schools and organizations.Qualifications:
- Professional knowledge of current principles and philosophy of education, its theories, practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of current teaching, learning, writing and study methods, principles, and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with individuals and/or groups to present a positive image and to develop an effective working relationship.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and organize assigned activities to meet short and long-range goals and objectives.
- Incumbent must be able to manage and coordinate large and complex projects within time restraints while dealing with extremely high-level professionals.
- Ability to motivate faculty and students and to increase their interest in Teaching and/or learning.
- Ability to evaluate information related to programs, materials, and individuals, determine effectiveness, identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to use a computer and associated software for computer-based tutorials, word-processing, database, statistical analysis and graphic functions.
- Skill in designing and applying teaching methods and techniques appropriate to the background, interests and abilities of students.
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of faculty teaching, research and service requirements, and the administrative requirements for supervising personnel is required.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of the organization and to mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
