Director & Actuary - Workers' Compensation

Position Overview
We are seeking an Actuary who is interested in working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position is a key role within the actuarial team, directly managing a small staff and reporting to the chief actuary. The candidate will have responsibilities and exposure on the analysis, monitoring and presentation of multiple projects for both pricing and reserving. The candidate must have strong analytical skills, be able to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences and be able to influence business partners. The position can be located in either Wilkes-Barre, PA or New York, NY.
Responsibilities- Manage pricing, analysis, and filings for the countrywide Workers' Compensation book.
- Provide strategic input and collaborate with Underwriting and Sales in product development and profitability management.
- Identify segments with profitable growth potential or underperforming segments and propose strategy adjustments.
- Communicate analyses and results to business partners and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Lead the quarterly and annual loss reserve analysis for Workers' Compensation.
- Manage a small team of individual contributors.
Salary Range
$150,000-$210,000.00 USD with performance based bonus potential
The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3-4 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
Qualifications- Eight+ years of actuarial experience with at least 2 years of Workers' Compensation experience.
- Ability to communicate results and drivers to senior management and build partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and model results.
- Results-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when necessary.
- Knowledge of VBA, SQL, R is preferred.
- ACAS or FCAS
