Director & Actuary, Corporate Actuarial
This role will be managing and directing valuation model development initiatives and will be supporting the development and maintenance of the Actuarial Data Platform (ADP), an end-to-end solution for actuarial models and processes. The valuation model development includes changes for new product implementation, new regulatory requirements, new lines of business, and support for strategic initiatives. This position reports to the VP, Corporate Actuarial, and will interact and collaborate with multiple functional areas including Valuation, Finance, Product Development, Risk, and IT.
Role and Responsibilities
This role will lead and manage a small team of actuaries to perform the following business functions within Corporate Actuarial:
PolySystems Model Development & Actuarial Data Platform (ADP) Management:
  • Responsible for prioritizing, managing, and coordinating PolySystems model development and testing
  • Responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of ADP (automated valuation environment)

Actuarial Valuation Model Steward
  • Responsible for managing actuarial valuation models and managing production deployment of approved models.
  • Responsible for implementing and enforcing actuarial change management and model governance policies and procedures as required by the company.

Business Support Services for Actuarial Valuation
  • Responsible for maintenance (routine) and continuous improvements (ad-hoc, project based) of the valuation-related modeling processes including simplifying, streamlining, and automating tasks as well as enabling available/accessible technologies to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Providing Business Support to the Valuation team including resolving production issues, assisting regulatory reporting/filing, and assisting audit requests

Strategic/Regulatory Initiatives
  • Responsible for the planning, design, and execution on our actuarial initiatives and other enterprise initiatives

Talent Development
  • Managing and developing actuarial resources within Corporate Actuarial
  • Responsible for leading and managing internal PolySystems training activities to build up internal PolySystems modeling expertise.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
  • Minimum of 10 years of actuarial experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management and project management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of life insurance and annuity products and features
  • Advanced knowledge of actuarial valuation requirements and techniques
  • Working knowledge of actuarial control and governance framework
  • Proficient with actuarial modeling software such as PolySystems, GGY-AXIS, MG-ALFA, etc.
  • Proficient with database software such as SQL, DataBricks, Microsoft Access, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven leadership and talent development experience
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willing to challenge the status quo
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and work collaboratively across the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
