Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Direct Support House Supervisor to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC). This position supervises and evaluates staff who help ensure a safe environment and provide guidance to clients. This is a full-time position with additional hours as needed and opportunity for growth, development, and advancement.
Please note that GRC employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. Speak to the hiring manager for more information on eligibility.
The Direct Support House Supervisor (HS), in collaboration with the home's supervisory team, monitors, guides, coaches, trains, directs, and evaluates staff in providing care and active treatment. This includes, but is not limited to, Behavior Support Plans (BSP), Physical Nutritional Management Plans (PNMP), Individual Implementation Procedures (IIP), and Individual Support Plans (ISPs). This position maintains timekeeping, completes supervisory investigations, recommends disciplinary action, and completes all supervisory activities and documentation consistent with statutes, rules, policies, procedures, and protocols. The HS participates in the Direct Support staff interview process, conducts staff observations in assigned areas, documents observations, and provides feedback and guidance to staff to ensure compliance and improve effectiveness and efficiency.
This position uses knowledge of applied behavior analysis to lead staff in assisting individuals striving to increase adaptive behavior and decrease maladaptive behavior. The HS also assists with the development of BSPs and maintains BSP integrity and effectiveness through assessments, questionnaires, data collection, analysis, and consultations with the psychologist and others.
The Direct Support House Supervisor monitors all required staff documentation to ensure it is timely, accurate, legible, complete, and meets documentation requirements, and provides staff with the resources necessary to ensure appropriate documentation. This includes, but is not limited to, PNMPs, BSPs, ISPs, accountability sheets, incident reports, restrictive measure logs, and debriefings. This position responds to, reviews, and documents all incident reports for individuals in the assigned home and completes a thorough review for all incidents of unknown origin in compliance with statutes, rules, guidelines, policies, procedures, and protocols.
Required certifications for this position: CIT, CNA, First Aid, CPR, and Mandatory Reporter.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to two years of full-time work as a nursing or therapeutic assistant in a health care facility or other facility for the intellectually disabled, mentally ill, elderly, physically ill or disabled;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of post high school education (thirty semester or equivalent hours) with an emphasis in nursing and/or the social or behavioral sciences for one year of experience to a maximum substitute of one year.
