Position Summary:
The Direct Purchasing Internship is a role that works collaboratively with Program Launch Buyers and Commodity Buyers by assisting them with data analytics, request for quotations (RFQ's), supplier negotiations, and commodity strategy development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze and compare supplier prices and terms
- Generate spend reports and provide data analytics in Excel
- Understand and investigate market dynamics and commodity trends
- Identify and implement cost savings initiatives in conjunction with commodity buyers
- Support program launch buyers on key deliverables
- Develop and sustain relationships with key internal and external customers
Education and Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management or relevant degree(Junior's and rising Seniors preferred) with a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
- Hybrid Position located in Northville, Michigan and home office
- Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
