Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To perform all phases of the lettershop tasks, setting up and running all machines, processing purchase orders, mail preparation and handwork, postal paperwork, including, but not limited to, shipping/receiving, delivery processes, and other duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Be able to take instruction for daily work and complete amongst production team.
· Set up and run Bell & Howell and Mail Crafter Edge inserters, Scitex Inkjet machine, Kirk Rudy and Ameritek tabbers, MBO folder and cutting machines.
· Daily work to include some or all of the following: mail preparation, purchase order execution, folding, inkjetting, stamping, inserting (machine or by hand), shipping/receiving, stocking, mail metering,
· Safely operate all equipment and follow all work rules, including adherence to dress code guidelines as set forth by Production Manager.
· Process paperwork via USPS Business Gateway for mailings.
· Communicate with USPS regarding mailings, permits, paperwork, mail trays, etc.
· Driver when needed for mail pick up / drop off of mail to/from Chicago Post Office.
· Prepare, package and ship outgoing product to vendors and clients via UPS, Messenger and our Mission Press vehicle.
· Receive incoming deliveries, verify goods, rectify discrepancies, and distribute.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, stand, use of hands to handle
or feel objects, and use of various tools.
· Be aware and report needed inventoried stock items to Production Manager when running low.
· Work cooperatively and professionally with all Agency staff.
· Keep production area neatly organized; ensure organized shop and warehouse environments for efficiency and safety. Help coworkers keep common refrigerator, microwave and shelving clean and orderly.
· Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma (or GED) required.
· Valid Driver’s License.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) including, but not limited to email correspondence, scheduling in outlook calendar, Excel worksheets with formulas/calculations, as well as the ability to become proficient in other software packages and programs as required.
· Ability to operate, or learn mailing equipment, including MBO folding equipment, inserting equipment, Scitex Inkjet/Stamping machine, general bindery, and stamping machine.
· Direct Mail/Shipping/Receiving experience required.
· Ability to drive van and box truck to take deliveries to Chicago Post Office, clients and vendors.
· Ability to receive and ship goods via UPS, messenger, or other services.
· Ability to operate loading dock equipment, including pallet jack, lift gate and others as required.
· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to the full 8 to 10 hour shift with short breaks.
· Ability to use hands to handle or feel objects and use of various tools.
· Regular and predictable attendance is imperative.
· Must be able to work overtime and weekends when required, especially in peak season.
