This position allows the flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week once fully trained.
The Direct Import Planner is responsible for placing orders with overseas factories, tracking progress of these orders, reacting to customer requested changes by updating orders and communicating to factories, and processing import paperwork upon shipment. This individual works closely with many departments including Product Management, Sales, Global Sourcing, Compliance, and Accounting in order to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time with accuracy in a fast-paced office environment. With guidance and supervision from the Manager of Planning, the DI Planner will be able to quickly reprioritize work in a constantly changing environment while providing excellent service to both internal and external customers.
Job Knowledge
Knowledge of or ability to learn details of import/export business, ocean logistics, container loads, letter of credits, duties, NAFTA, MRP, planning, and purchasing. Necessary skills are accuracy, ability to learn quickly, detail oriented, and efficiency under time pressure. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
Essential Functions:
- Check daily for customer sales orders and place corresponding purchase order with overseas factories
- Follow up with factories to ensure on time and correct shipment of goods to customers
- Check paperwork from factories for accuracy to avoid fines from customer
- Stay up to date on customer order management portals and keep active records of training materials for each portal
- Meet regularly with Product Management and Sales teams to learn about upcoming promotions
- Communicate with Compliance team to understand the latest customer order management requirements
- Work closely with overseas vendors to ensure customer required shipment schedules are achieved and address any potential issues that might delay meeting shipping deadlines.
- Attend weekly Go Forward meetings to learn about new product launches, provide updates on purchase order status and sets up planning screens for applicable Direct Import items.
- Create any Ad hoc reports that are required from time to time for internal and external customers
Essential Functions:
- Ability to sit at computer workstation and/or desk for a full shift.
- Ability to enter data and look at monitor for extended periods.
- Must work in the Easton, PA office at least three days per week.

Experience Required
1-3 years of logistics, planning and/ or supply chain management experience preferred. Must have experience working in MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel and MS Outlook.
