Dir Validation Engineering

Overview

Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional Director of Validation to join our CXL SoC team. Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer. 

 

As a Director of Validation, the candidate will be reporting to the VP of Engineering and is a Full-Time position. We are looking for a highly technical director to join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team focused on the validation of our CXL memory products. We are looking for an experienced "hands on" engineer who can improve our processes, methodologies, infrastructure, and help to grow the team to a best-in-class position.The ideal candidate will possess a wide range of technical skills involved in validating an SoC product starting from initial product concept through to the product release to production. The candidate should have comprehensive silicon and embedded firmware validation experience with a track record of successful tape-outs and first-pass success.  The candidate will need to have outstanding organization, communication, teamwork, debugging, and mentoring skills. 

Responsibilities

• Partner with internal and external cross-functional teams, across all levels of a corporation, from executives, team managers and individual contributors including development engineers, capacity planners and supply chain experts 
• Own, develop and continuously adapt and improve validation methodologies and technologies to continuously improve design validation coverage and time-to-market 
• Partner with Architecture, Firmware, Verification, Modeling, Emulation, and Operation teams to deliver high-quality SoC products 
• Work with external partners in sourcing contractors and resources, test equipment, PCB manufacturing and assembly, server and CPU suppliers 

• Maintain technical relationships with datacenter servers and memory, storage and/or networking vendors including the historical x86 datacenter/enterprise focused server providers 

Qualifications

• Experience in multiple successful ASIC tape-outs and track record of first-pass success   

• Demonstrated ability to mentor a team in validation planning and test-plan execution of high-speed, mixed-signal SoC devices containing SerDes, DDR, multi-core processors and complex algorithmic datapath 
• Track record of growing organizations with focus on organization and validation methodology development 
• Demonstrated ability with project planning, resource allocation, capital and operational budgeting and purchasing    
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent 
• 15+ years experience in managing SoC teams with 8+ years related experience in SoC/ASIC validation 

• Experience in Cadence Palladium / Protium emulation environments or equivalent for pre tape-out validation of hardware/firmware codesign of SoC/ASIC programs 
• Experience with Linux, JIRA, Xray, Testrail and/or Postgres SQL software stacks or equivalent 
• Protocol knowledge of high-performance interfaces such as CXL, PCIe, DDR4, DDR5 and/or I3C will be an asset 
• Experience with high-speed PCB design and layout, signal integrity, manufacturing and BOM supply management processes and vendor 
• Excellent teamwork and time management skills, self-direction, the ability to work under pressure and the desire to excel in a competitive environment 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
