Position Summary:
Hartford HealthCare is seeking an experienced Digital Transformation Director to oversee a portfolio of Digital Health applications and build the team that supports those solutions. The successful candidate will be a key member of a cohesive ITS leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Digital Transformation. This role is designed for an experienced ITS leader who thrives on innovation, human-centered design, cross-functional projects, collaboration and interdisciplinary teams.
The Digital Transformation Director is a leader in the ITS Department. Responsible for multiple teams and a portfolio of software and technologies and accountable to key leaders in the organization, helping to define and govern the priorities, budget and activities of the ITS Division. Serves as an advisor to the organization on digital health application strategy and delivery, and is a representative of the entire ITS department. Accountable for executing the Digital Transformation technology goals of the healthcare system and human-centered design/user experience leadership. As a leader in the ITS Department, the often oversees complex programs involving multiple teams and many users. Responsible for the success of his/her team and the success of the department, helping analysts and managers balance the daily requirements and strategic priorities of the organization. Manages staff according to HR policies and procedures and serves as an H3W leadership role model for all staff and colleagues.
Position Responsibilities:
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Oversees all aspects of HHC's Digital Health solutions, including Epic (MyChart, Hello World, Welcome, Cadence, etc.), and related 3rd party applications.
2. Partners with operational leaders - Marketing, Strategy, HHCMG, ICP, Revenue Cycle, Patient Experience, PRM -- to ensure that application development and deployment is performed in an efficient, cost effective and technically sound manner while meeting the needs and goals of the organization.
3. Leads strategic projects, working closely with operational leadership on deployment of new technologies, Epic optimization, geographic expansion, and new service offerings.
4. Operates as a thought leader for the health care system on Digital Health technologies and Human-Centered Design, and the use of technology to best meet the needs of users and achieve enterprise goals.
5. Serves as a key resource on HHC's digital road map, deploying and supporting patient-facing solutions in Epic and other solutions, in collaboration with the Applications team and other teams in ITS.
6. Oversees support of ongoing operations, upgrades, optimizations, and project work.
7. Establishes policies, procedures and standards to measure and monitor the success of applications and production processes; continually strives to improve existing policies in order to provide top-tier service excellence to our operational partners; identifies improvement opportunities, and develop action plans when appropriate.
8. Serves as escalation point for all project and operational issues; maintains HHC's high standard for exceptional customer service & communication to all staff while providing resolutions; informs customers of work progress, ensure timeliness and accuracy.
9. Builds and directs the Digital Transformation/Human Centered Design team; determines team structure; hires staff as needed; ensures proper onboarding, staff engagement and retention. Ensures a common vision is shared and maintained across all teams.
10. Creates an environment that empowers staff to continuously develop performance improvement processes using Lean tools. Solicits input in daily operations and projects to improve all end-user functions (Consumer, Patient and Family + Providers, Clinicians, HHC Employees). Assists staff in developing new skills and applying them to the work place.

Nature of Supervision: Has full responsibility for a department 24/7. Determines its long-term goals and objectives, policies and procedures. Prepares the department's annual budget. Responsible for all personnel actions and decisions (hire/fire, performance evaluations, counseling/disciplinary, training, payroll, etc.)
Internal: HHC Staff, Marketing, Strategy, HHCMG, ICP, Revenue Cycle, Patient Experience, PRM, Providers
External: Patients, Vendors, Payers, Government Agencies, Independent Providers
Qualifications:
Education
• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, HealthCare Management, Business Administration, or related field. Extensive experience may substitute for education.
• Preferred: Master's Degree in HealthCare Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience
• Minimum:
o Prior experience implementing and supporting Epic Patient Facing solutions
o Three (3) years' experience of Healthcare IT Management in a Digital Health or Transformation related role.
o Two (2) years' experience of providing leadership.
o Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on-time and on-budget
• Preferred:
o Five (5) to Seven (7) years' progressive Digital Health/Transformation and Information Technology management experience
Licensure, Certification, Registration
• Epic Certification recommended, PMP, Design Thinking Certification (IDEO, MIT, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
• Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information.
• Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
• Expert at developing / facilitating the use of journey mapping, user experience models, personas, and translating these to operational workflow and business / technical requirements to assure optimum results.
• Ability to manage large and diverse work groups to assure cohesive interactions to maximize achievement at meeting department and Organizational Goals.
