PURPOSE OF JOB

The Digital Storyteller Specialist position brings CML’s impact to life through dynamic and compelling human stories and strong copywriting that moves an audience to engage more deeply with our vison and purpose. Nimble, strategic and creative, the position works the storytelling spectrum – gathering and creating compelling and engaging content to support our social media and digital strategies. The position manages CML’s digital content development process (stories, video, copy) for integrated digital marketing and communications campaigns and partners with other teams to package it for multiple channels that brings our brand to life. They are steeped in our brand strategy and bring a willingness to experiment with fresh approaches.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Leads and creates engaging brand-right content for CML’s digital channels, including social media, website, blogs, emails and more, using both photography and video.
  2. Produces engaging and educational brand stories to tell through visual and written content, with an emphasis on social media channels.
  3. Identifies trends, relevant news, influencers and other opportunities in the social media space, helping to increase CML’s brand awareness and voice.
  4. Manages content calendars for social media and other appropriate digital channels.
  5. Develops and grows CML’s presence and reach across social platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and other channels (Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.).
  6. Defines and implements strategies to grow brand presence in existing and new social channels, to increase followers and engagement.
  7. Works collaboratively across departments to understand and respond to analytics to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of content across all digital channels.
  8. Responsible for marketing and communications projects from inceptions through completion. Includes working with strategic partners (both internal and external) to deliver a product in alignment with library’s strategic plan, key messages and brand.
  9. Monitors and responds to social media comments, questions and feedback in a timely manner.
  10. Keeps current with emerging digital media behavior, trends, and technologies – both inside and outside of the library industry.
  11. Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree, in marketing or related field. 5-7 years experience in digital marketing may substitute for education.
  2. 3-5 years digital marketing and content management experience.
  3. Track record of using purposeful storytelling to drive organizational impact and business results, translating information and material into compelling content for internal and external audiences.
  4. Demonstrated track record of writing and producing digital and print content for a range of target audiences.
  5. Deep knowledge of social and digital media, including video and video production.
  6. Ability to work and think in cross-functional social media channels to emphasize a strong message.
  7. Proven creative ability with exemplary video and other storytelling skills, as well as strong written and verbal communications skills that result in dynamic content.
  8. Proficiency with image and video editing software (Photoshop/Adobe Premiere Pro/Movavi).
  9. Motivated self-starter with a creative eye, attention to detail and entrepreneurial character.
  10. Ability to work remotely and respond to social media inquiries during off hours as needed.
  11. Ability and commitment to work with the public. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  12. Versatile, flexible and dynamic attitude.
  13. Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job related equipment and systems.
  14. Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions).

Work requires minimal demand for physical effort.
