Job description

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of the Pourdavoud Institute for the Study of the Iranian World, the Digital Content Design and Web Developer manages the print, digital content, and websites for the for the Pourdavoud Institute, Yarshater Center, Archaeological Gazetteer of Iran, and Program of Iranian Studies. The incumbent uses emerging web and design technologies to implement a consistent and cohesive visual identity in print and digital formats. Incumbent will work with the Pourdavoud Institute Director, Assistant Director, Programs and Administration Coordinator, as well as associated faculty, to create project plans, and track goals, objectives, and timelines. The main functions are to build, edit, update, and maintain multiple websites; graphic design of both print and online media, including event flyers, programs, booklets, invitations, and email campaigns; assist with social media management; and support associated faculty with building and maintaining digital databases for research projects. The incumbent will also implement strategies to broaden the reach of the Pourdavoud Institute and Yarshater Center's visibility on the web and social media.
The position requires an independent thinker and problem solver with exceptional skills in graphic design and web development including hand coding of HTML/CSS. The position also requires strong communication and organizational skills.
Qualifications for Position
Qualifications Required/Preferred
1. Strong knowledge of maintaining websites and social media sites.

2. Ability to coordinate with a diverse team of programmers, staff, and faculty to ensure the development and success of the Pourdavoud Institute and Yarshater Center's digital initiatives.

3. Familiarity with digital tools and technologies in research environments, including HTML, content management systems such as WordPress, GIS, web interfaces, database management, XML, and other mark-up languages.

4. Ability to work to build and maintain websites, and to harness open-source and Web 2.0 tools, content management systems, and other cloud and web technologies for projects.

5. Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision, and work collaboratively as part of a team.

6. Organizational skills in setting priorities and developing a plan of action to attain goals for the Institute and Center and prioritize complex work load. Achieve high productivity and quality under shifting demands and accelerated timelines.

16. Demonstrated ability to create and edit Web documents working with Web editor programs such as Dreamweaver, InSketch, and InVision, and other content management applications for new web page creation as well as markup of existing documents in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint).

17. Skill and experience with Adobe file formats and applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, Premiere) and audio/video file formats such as WMV, AVI, MPG, MP4, SWF. FLV, MP3.

18. Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours as related to scheduled sponsored events.
