Position Summary:

Assists in all operations related to MoMA’s museum-wide Digital Asset management system (DAM), including ingesting, tagging, cataloging, organizing assets, and refining workflows. Provides access and support to staff across the Museum through training and documentation. Facilitates storage and retrieval workflows and assists with licensing requests from MoMA’s outside licensing partners.


Responsibilities:

  • Performs quality assurance of assets, updating of metadata, formatting, and file naming.
  • Works with other teams to integrate information from various sources and databases.
  • Assists departments with ingesting Museum assets; communicates any inconsistencies or issues.
  • Creates and maintains documentation and staff training materials for proper Digital Asset management (DAM) usage and workflows.
  • Provides support, training, and assistance to Museum staff on effective usage of DAM.
  • Assists with asset organization and distribution for museum staff and artists.
  • Assists licensing partners with inquiries for existing and new assets and captions.
  • Updates existing images through retouching, cropping, and image rotating.
  • Performs advanced asset searches,reports, and tagging of artworks.
  • Handles routine troubleshooting.
  • Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in imaging or library science, or equivalent.
  • One to three years of previous experience with DAM systems in a museum or library environment (experience may include internships).
  • Experience with DAM taxonomy and metadata in a cultural heritage setting.
  • Very high level of organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with database management, including creating organizational file structures, advanced searches, and batch processes.
  • Experience with TMS and NetXposure is a plus.
  • Knowledge of modern art history.
  • Understanding of how museums are organized and how they document their collections.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Digital Asset file parameters, color profiles, resolution, compression, file size and formats.
  • Advanced Creative Cloud and Google Office skills.
  • Solid analytic skills to improve processes.
