Summary/Objective:
Under the direct supervision of the Dietary Manager of The Fountains, Fountains dietary staff are responsible for helping to maintain high standards of quality food production and portion control, using standardized recipes. They may perform a variety of unskilled tasks, such as sweeping and washing physical plant or equipment, may work in the food service unit or in the dishwashing unit. Dietary staff may be asked to serve room trays, serve dining room style meals and may be required to assist residents with their meals as needed.
Essential Functions:

1. Greets and serves residents and guests in a friendly and prompt manner.
2. Participates in planning meals and prepares meals according to the pre-planned and written menus three times daily. May need to prepare or substitute items for special dietary requirements or needs.
3. Orders or assists in placing items to be ordered on a list for the supplying grocer or vendor.
4. Receives and stores groceries and produce in appropriate location.
5. Keeps work area neat, clean and orderly including , but not limited to preparation areas, cooking surfaces and ovens, serving areas, storage areas, equipment, walls, and floors.
6. Is proficient with kitchen items such as knives, blenders, grinders, mixers, slicers or other utensils.
7. Is knowledgeable and complies with proper food temperatures for both stored items and while preparing or serving meals.
8. Plates and serves meals in an attractive presentation.
9. Keeps dining areas clean including but not limited to tables, floors, chairs, sidebars, counters and equipment.
10. Buses tables and counters at the conclusion of each resident or guest meal.
11. Checks inventory and pulls food items needed for upcoming shifts as required for thawing in a safe manner.
12. Notifies supervisor of any items needed to prepare upcoming meals on the menu.
13. Understands the importance of special dietary needs of residents or guests and accommodates them accordingly.

Work Environment:
This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines. This job will require exposure to both heat and cold in short duration due to using cooking appliances and entering cooler and freezer as necessary. Prolonged exposure is not likely. Work space is well-lit and temperature controlled with minimal exposure to outdoor elements.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires continuous physical activity, endurance, and the ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Duties regularly require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and crouching as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Position requires work schedule flexibility based on needs of the facility. There are no overnight shifts.
TRAVEL
Infrequent travel is expected for this position. Occasional trips to local grocer.
Requirements:Required Education, Experience and License
Must have or be able to obtain ‘Food Handler’s’ License.
