JOB SUMMARY:
Accept full time responsibility for planning, organizing, developing, directing and evaluating the activities of the food service department. Interact tactfully and positively with Residents and staff, both professional and non-professional, as well as government agency representatives and the general public.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Minimize liability concerns by ensuring that dietary documentation in each clinical record is factual, timely and descriptive regarding Residents’ response to food service.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of foods, supplies and equipment in a limited access area.
- Review all department accident/incident reports for accuracy and completeness and forward to Administrator within the established deadlines.
- Promptly process dietary changes and new diet orders.
- Maintain all file menus and menu substitutions according to current regulations.
- Meet with committees or other groups as necessary to plan food service programs and activities.
- Implements mechanisms for inventory control by checking incoming orders with accompanying invoices. Forward invoices to accounting expediently.
- Ability and commitment to work well with other staff, avoiding petty conflicts that disrupt a productive work environment. Does not participate in office gossip and rumors. Focus attention on his/her work responsibilities and not on the performance or perceived non-performance of other staff members.
- Attend seminars, continuing education classes, workshops, etc. and implements resulting ideas.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Graduate of an accredited course in state of employment.
- Two years successful supervisory experience preferred.
- Work with and provide care to individuals of a wide range of personality types and maturity levels.
- Demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in making competent decisions.
- Knowledgeable about dietary procedures and related current regulations pertaining to nursing home food services
- CDM Preferred
- Clinical Assessments Preferred
