JOB DESCRIPTION: Dietary Aide/Dish Washer
DEPARTMENT: Dining Services
REPORTS TO: Day Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities
- Places prepared food on plates/trays in accordance with tray tickets in line with our established policies and procedures. May be directed by the Nutrition Services Director/Supervisor or Cook, to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times.
- Assists in clean up, washing dishes, setting up and taking down the dining areas.
- Prepares and delivers food and trays, wash dishes and cleans and sanitizes kitchen according to health standards.
- The aide will ensure full compliance with nutritional standards, internal procedures and government regulations while preparing and serving foods and beverages to TVH residents and staff.
- Dietary aides must learn the protocols and procedures for The Virginia Home.
- Dietary Aide to prepare dining rooms and tables, provide meal service to residents and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining and kitchen areas.
- The Dietary Aide must be detail-oriented, well-groomed, act professionally and must be a team player who works well with others.
- Must show attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions for reading recipes, dietary needs and meal orders.
- Must be physically able to prepare food, serve meals, as well as be able to operate kitchen equipment and clean up after meals.
- Must be compassionate and patient when working with residents, residents' family members and staff.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends. Must be flexible in scheduling.
- Willing and able to work well within a team environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Able to stand for long periods of time and lift 30+ pounds.
- Ability to read, speak and understand English, follow directions and complete tasks.
- Ability to read and accurately apply requirements of food tray orders.
- Ability to follow time schedules for meal preparation and serving.
- Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to interact positively with residents, residents’ families, staff, volunteers and visitors.
- Must participate in training and continuing education courses.
