Primary Responsibilities: Attending to dining residents before, during, and after their meals by helping them place and receive their requested meal. Ensure the timely delivery of food and beverages by checking on their tables periodically throughout the service time.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school student with proper work permit document if applicable
- Customer service knowledge
Preferred Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience dietary aid experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Take food and drink orders from residents accurately and with a positive attitude
· Build food trays, deliver, and serve meals to skilled nursing facility residents.
· Interact effectively, patiently, and respectfully with residents who may exhibit auditory, verbal or behavioral difficulties
· Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
· Will work with a variety of dining service staff members; must work well with others
- Serves meals to resident in accordance with prescribed diets and resident requests.
- Portions food for service and ensures that prep work has been completed to meet.
- Established standards with portion control and plate presentation.
- Supports dietitian in setting up new resident preferences in accordance with diet and medication.
- Always ensures cleanliness in all dining areas and service areas.
- Ensures all food is labeled and dated correctly according to DHEC standards.
- Responsible for all sanitation checklists in kitchens and dining rooms.
- Complies with uniform standards and service standards, including food temperature compliance and proper sanitation.
- Keeps information safe and confidential.
· Responsible for clearing, setting, and resetting tables before, during, and after the shift
· All other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
· Capable of working extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
· Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
· Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice.
· Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day.
· Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and with good reasoning skills.
· Must have finger dexterity for holding utensils, equipment, and other kitchen tools.
Environmental Requirements
· Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and professionally under such circumstances.
· For safety reasons, employee must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.
· Must be able to work effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
