SalaryWe are looking for highly driven, mechanically inclined individuals interested in developing a career as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician or Electric Power Generation Technician. The Milton CAT Diesel Technician Training Program will start in July of 2024, and we are hiring now for a limited number of trainee spots.
The Diesel Technician Training Program consists of 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and 400 hours of classroom/online video training over 15-months. You will rotate through a variety of shops within our facility and work elbow-to-elbow with some of the best technicians in the industry.
This is a paid training program, and Trainees hired throughout NY state will start at $24.90 per hour.
Upon successful completion of the training program, you will be offered a full-time Milton CAT Technician position.

- High school diploma or (GED) equivalent
- One or more years of experience servicing heavy equipment or equivalent education in automotive/diesel/other mechanical vocational program
- Strong sense of safety, customer service, problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Solid mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn and adapt
- Proficient in the use of technology (laptop computer and related software systems)
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
