WHAT DOES A TECHNICIAN DO?
The Diesel Technician position requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to medium/heavy duty trucks and diesel engine diagnosis, repairs, as well as tire replacement. Understanding of fleet maintenance operations, understanding of electrical, hydraulics, PM and DOT inspection experience and knowledge.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Write up work orders
Inspect, diagnose and repair a variety of Class 3-8 trucks, to include; parts replacement, air brake systems/components, tires, wiring, lights, etc.
Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on vehicles, along with DOT inspections
Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
Accurately complete all DOT forms and all other forms of documentation
Work with a high level of productivity and be able to work within time constraints
Communicate effectively with management and our customers
Build positive relationships with employees and customers

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Basic computer and math skills
- Previous shop service writer experience required
Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license and be 18 years of age
Minimum of 3 years truck maintenance and diesel engine repair experience required
Familiar with FMCSA pass/fail criteria for annual DOT inspections
Tech-savvy with a smartphone
Must speak, read, and write English fluently
NICE TO HAVES:
ASE certification, not required
CDL-A preferred, not required
Fleet truck maintenance experience
Diesel tech school certification, not required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job will involve occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements such as hot and cold temperatures, loud noises, dust/dirt and exhaust fumes.
