What You’ll Do

As the Fleet Maintenance Technician for Empire our Atlanta, Georgia facility, you will be responsible performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs in addition to performing expert diagnosis and repairs as required to prevent breakdowns, reduce vehicle downtime, and improve total fleet reliability. This position requires but is not limited to:

• Performing routine maintenance on trucks, such as checking batteries, changing oil, changing light bulbs, etc. to ensure vehicles are running properly.
• Inspecting various parts of trucks, including brake systems, wheel bearings, and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate efficiently.
• Test driving vehicles to ensure they are running properly.
• Identifying and analyzing issues to determine what the solution will be.
• Replacing parts, valves, bearings, and gears as needed.
• Repairing vehicle cooling and heating systems.
• Utilizing various tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, screwdrivers, hoists, and jacks, to repair trucks.
• Consistently utilize safety precautions while performing maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
• Prior experience as a mechanic with an emphasis on trailer repair along with routine maintenance experience.
• Ability to change tires on large and small trailers and trucks.
• Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems, light bulbs, and boxed units on all equipment.
• Must be able to provide your own tools necessary to perform all maintenance repair and diagnostics (major diagnostic equipment and tools will be provided by Empire).
• Must have expert knowledge of all DOT (FMCSA) regulations.
• Must have moderate knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.

Working Conditions

• Frequently works outdoors.
• The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or crawl.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
