Job Description
Summary:
A Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of construction related equipment.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- A Heavy Equipment Mechanic is primarily responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Heavy Equipment.
- A Heavy Equipment Mechanic knows the hazards of the job and is trained in safety precautions of the trade.
- A Heavy Equipment Mechanic must have a great knowledge in the operation and maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:
- The ability to inspect and repair diesel power units, hydraulic systems, injection valves.
- Must also inspect, adjust, and repair all equipment incidental to Construction business.
- Must have experience in onsite repairs, welding fabricating, and all types of truck repair.
- Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
- Must have skills in the care and use of hand and power tools.
- Must have transportation, be punctual and dependable.

Education/Experience
Five Years + years of related experience and/or training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to working conditions that include working near loud, large Heavy Equipment and near moving mechanical parts and working outdoors in inclement weather conditions, uneven ground and climbing in and out of trenches.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
