The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will play a pivotal role in our healthcare facility, using cutting-edge ultrasound technology to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging and EKG procedures. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer’s expertise and precision will be crucial in assisting our medical team in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for building strong rapport with patients, providing them with comfort and support during the examination process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to and from locations requesting diagnostic ultrasound and/or EKG studies.
  • Transport and move required equipment for mobile diagnostic ultrasound and/or EKG studies as needed.
  • Perform various diagnostic ultrasound procedures following established protocols and safety standards.
  • Perform EKG procedures following established protocols and safety standards.
  • Prepare and position patients for examinations, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Accurately capture and document patient information, medical history, and other relevant data in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Utilize advanced imaging equipment to obtain high-quality images and optimize visualization of anatomical structures. 
  • Analyze sonographic findings and collaborate with the healthcare team to assist in diagnosing and treating patients' medical conditions.
  • Provide preliminary findings to attending physicians and other healthcare professionals, facilitating timely patient care.
  • Maintain and organize equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition and adhering to infection control and safety standards. • Stay current with industry advancements, attending educational workshops and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Exhibit a patient-centric approach, demonstrating empathy, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, their families, and colleagues.
  • Assist in quality improvement initiatives, participating in departmental meetings, and contributing to enhancing protocols and procedures.
  • Plan workflow and schedule to maximize productivity (travel times, weather delays, traffic considerations, etc.) 
  • Ensure that the vehicle is well-maintained, fueled, and always ready to go.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field from an accredited institutional. 
  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification, or eligible for certification (must obtain within six months of employment). 
  • State licensure or certification as required by the applicable regulatory body. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a clinical setting, with expertise in echoes, vascular studies, and mobile settings. 
  • Proficient in using ultrasound equipment and related software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze sonographic images accurately, providing clear and concise reports to the medical team. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex medical concepts clearly and understandably.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to patient care and safety, with a patient-centered approach to healthcare.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-medication and initiative. 
  • Current valid driver's license with a clean driving record. 
  • Ability to navigate traffic and changing travel conditions. 
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including on-call, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying, reaching, bending, stooping and speaking

Occasional sitting

Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed 

May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled, with assistance if needed

Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, copy, and fax machine, and phone
