Description

As a DFA Risk Management Operations Analyst, your goal will be to help dairy farmers, processors and customers understand and utilize Risk Management tools to achieve financial stability, as a part of the DFA Risk Management team. By providing critical operational support to this team, you are creating opportunities for dairy farmers across the U.S. to achieve their families’ goals.

 

You will build meaningful relationships within our team and across DFA, gain experience and knowledge in a rapidly growing industry, and take on significant responsibilities from day one in a supportive, collaborative environment. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a significant segment of the DFA Risk Management program by developing and managing key resources to be used in educating DFA’s farmer-owners, processors, and customers, including to:
    • Create and maintain centralized data sets and dashboards in PowerBI
    • Determine strategic opportunities and develop related talking points
    • Standardize PowerPoint templates and slide decks across the DFA Risk Management business segments
    • Assist in writing and distributing key DFA Risk Management publications
    • Build and maintain other innovative data and technology-related resources and projects
    • Participate in DFA Risk Management team meetings across business segments to bridge understanding gaps and identify areas where collaboration can be strengthened in an effort to maximize efficiency and prioritize communication
    • Assist in the implementation of new applications, calculators and other enhancements as needed
  • Keep up to date on market conditions. Using this information, develop relevant messaging to translate these complicated topics in a way that the team can use to educate members and customers on the markets and our programs
  • Build, establish and maintain strong relationships with DFA personnel, and develop strong working knowledge of a wide range of DFA products, services, and Risk Management tools, collaborating on DFA-wide projects as needed
  • Mentor operations team members to promote individual and team growth
  • Lead collaborative efforts with DFA’s marketing team
  • Perform daily processes to maintain our accounts and databases.
  • Provide backup support for all other responsibilities within the operations area of DFA Risk Management
  • Contribute to continual improvement of DFA Risk Management programs and services
  • Develop an appreciation and understanding of DFA’s business, programs and services and philosophy
  • Continue self-education of Commodity Risk Management markets, tools, programs and regulatory requirements
  • Show active interest in developing an understanding of Dairy Farmers of America and the dairy industry
  • Lead projects as assigned to analyze and develop Risk Management business opportunities
  • Continue education of milk pricing economics and commodity price hedging practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college, preferably in business or agriculture
  • Experience working in Commodity Risk Management, agricultural commodities or the dairy industry; preferred.
  • Located in Kansas City headquarters’ hybrid remote and in-office environment

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Strong critical thinking, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Enjoys working with and interpreting data to extract information and make business decisions that drive strategic direction
  • Desire to initiate and lead projects
  • A collaborative, team-focused attitude
  • Excellent skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word & others such as databases
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • An ability to take complicated concepts and make them easier to understand
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, as needed
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
