Job description

McFarland Clinic is currently accepting applications for DEXA Technician for its Ames office. Candidates should be service-oriented, a team player, and be able to provide extraordinary care, every day to our patients.

Responsibilities include: Obtain accurate information from the patient and communicates this to the physician or technologist. Prepares patients for bone densitometry exam. Performs bone densitometry exams while following established protocols. Uses radiation protection according to department policy and procedures. Performs quality control on equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations. Communicates physician and/or technologist's instructions for follow-up care. Recognizes emergency situations; initiates life support measures for patients as necessary. Maintains patient files, records and other information. Codes diagnosis and procedures and assists in performing other office clerical duties. Assumes responsibility for supplying area according to department needs. Assists technologist in preparing for procedures and patients for exam. Enhances professional growth through education programs, conferences, and workshops. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Maintains patient confidentiality. Performs related works as required.

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or HiSET
  • Completion of bone densitometry course or equivalent education.

Days: Monday - Friday.

Hours: Hours vary between 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Experience

  • Two years experience in bone densitometry preferred but not required.
  • On the job training
