Devops Intern, Digital Solutions

The DevOps Internship is an exciting opportunity to work within the growing Digital Solutions department of Maximus. The experience will include challenging work assignments, gaining insights on DevOps initiatives and building a professional network in a career field with great potential for advancement. The ideal intern will have strong software development, coding and project management skills plus a background or interest in learning about Digital Solutions using the latest technology. Guidance and training on operations standards and protocols will be provided by the Manager. Undergraduate and graduate level students are encouraged to apply.

BENEFITS / COMPENSATION:

Hourly pay range is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Interns are eligible for benefits. All computer equipment and access to digital systems will be provided to the hired candidate. Students may also complete the internship for academic credit subject to the qualifications of their academic program.

PROGRAM DETAILS:

This position requires a commitment of 40 full-time hours per week, with availability during usual business hours (8AM-6PM ET), for the duration of a 10-week summer program: starting Tuesday, May 30th and ending Friday, August 4th, 2023. This role is hybrid within the Princeton, NJ area and applicants from the nearby commutable area will be considered.

Interns will also participate in a curated program of Maximus workshops and events -- Learn from our leaders through our executive guest speaker series, continue to grow skills through our professional development seminars and build meaningful corporate connections through our summer networking events. We traditionally culminate our program with a celebration of National Interns Day in late July and by spotlighting a special project / working group activity that all interns will contribute to and complete for presentation.

The DevOps Intern experience includes exposure to working as a part of one or more of our Delivery, Products, Technology, Operations teams by assisting with analyzing, delivering, testing, developing and more. You will be exposed to technologies and concepts including but not limited to responsive web applications, native mobile apps, robotic process automation, document digitization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, webchat, email, SMS, gamification, and more. Qualifications
• Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Informatics, Engineering, or a related field
• Well-rounded in other areas such as project management, design, on-campus computer lab/information desk/help desk, IT-related case studies, student-led consulting group• Volunteer and leadership activities strongly preferred
• Explored (in school courses or work internships) the technical aspects of: Cloud deployment in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, Cloud architecture, network operations, database, programming, data analytics, enterprise IT, information systems.

Job duties
• Perform project management activities, such as tracking deliverables, creating status reports, with manager supervision.
• Assist in identifying areas for improvement, and creating process maps to demonstrate how changes will help the team; this technical process documentation work centers around DevOps and establishing or reinforcing Development standards.
• Perform front-end React development work on Maximus digital product, under manager supervision.
• Assist with configuring data analytics / visualization using PowerBI dashboard, with manager supervision.
• Assist with global technical resource tracking initiative.
• Perform light QA/QE work related to client project, under manager guidance

Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work on IT assignments, under the direction of a more senior mentor, that are moderately difficult to build a well-rounded skillsket. Escalate issues and questions to management as necessary.

- Participate in group discussions with peers or external groups to solution problems of moderate scope.

- Participate in meetings to gain process knowledge and guidance on assigned projects.

- Read, understand & perform assignments within prescribed guidelines.

- Approach challenges and create solutions with critical thinking. Prepare standard reports and presentation materials.

Minimum Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- 4-6 years of experience, or equivalent education in lieu of experience.

- Currently enrolled and working towards a degree in a related STEM field.
- May have additional training or education in an area of IT specialization.
- Good organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts.

• Work on other assignments as feasible.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards.
