Job Description
ASRC Federal is seeking a Dev/Ops Administrator to support operations of the application and platform of NASA Aeronautical Research Mission Directorate's next generation test data analysis and repository system.
This role is located at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base, near Palmdale/Lancaster, CA. As a part of this team, you will be required to work a 9/80 schedule with typical hours of 7:30am-5:00pm.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide Software Development and long term Software O M/Sustaining Support for the ARMD Test Data Portal (ATDP), including daily system health checks, capacity monitoring, user and permission management, storage management, and assistance with new feature development.
  • Recommend and implement authorized technical approaches for data management and integration solutions, such as seamless integration between systems, better performance/efficiency, security of intellectual property aspects, and technical innovations.
  • Provide Tier 1 problem resolution support for ATDP users.
  • Manage software updates and security configurations for 3rd party platforms and tools.
  • Track and update service tickets for user issues and internal system management tasks.

Requirements:
  • Requires Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science or related field)
  • 5-7 years of related software development/administration experience (minimum 2 years software development)
  • Active Security clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance
  • Development experience with an object-oriented language, Java and/or C++
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices (including object-oriented analysis design, service-oriented architectures (SOA), SOLID principles, design patterns, etc.)
  • Experience with source control management, configuration management, bug tracking and other development tools
  • Experience managing application security, to include encryption protocols, LDAP or Kerberos authentication, certificates, and OS/Application hardening
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to deliver project milestones and meet project deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate and work with a diverse team of researchers and software developers.

Desired Skills:
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and familiarity with DevOps tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Puppet, etc.
  • General knowledge of:
    • Linux operating systems and software development;
    • Formal software development standards and processes (primarily Agile)
    • Javascript, JQuery, JEE
    • Visual studio, Netbeans, or Eclipse
    • Atlassian tools (Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket)
    • XML
    • Web Services / Apache / Tomcat
    • HDF5 file format
    • MongoDB
    • Cloud hosting and development (AWS, Azure, etc)

Physical Requirements:
  • Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, correspondence, and a computer screen.
  • May require periodic schedule shifts or pre-approved additional hours to meet scheduled maintenance windows or to support necessary after hours return to service work.
