Duties: Serves as the department’s lead facilitator in scheduling meetings & communicating with staff & outside parties; acts as liaison for the City’s Development Review Team (DRT) & coordinates development review team (DRT) projects; responsible for the coordination & communication with contractors, architects, & citizens throughout the (DRT) process; maintains communication with all city departments involved in development & permit plan review; prepares written reports & detailed correspondence; develops & applies high level of technical knowledge related to software associated with the City’s permits, plans, & enforcement activities; coordinates internal resources, meetings, & communication; schedules site visits & meetings for planning & building staff; assists the staff liaison’s in maintaining agenda packets, records, & minutes for the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, BID No. 1 Design Review Board, Heritage Commission, & Building Advisory Board; attends & clerks all five (5) board & commission meetings; assists with the preparation & submittal of the department’s payables & other administrative & financial tasks; performs complex research on proposed projects & regulatory matters; interprets technical reports & maintains a wide variety of records.
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. including courses in typing, bookkeeping, computers & other clerical functions; Bachelor’s degree preferred; Green Belt or other process improvement certification preferred; PMP or other project management certification preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative work with strong computer experience, particularly Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Publisher, & Power Point); experience with government, construction, planning, development and/or legal services, Lean Management, Six Sigma, project management and/or other types of process improvement preferred.
Requirements: Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.
Work Type: Light, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Starting pay: $24.22-25.43/hr. DOQ EOE
