Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Programs Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

You provide technical expertise to third party organizations to ensure their success and help them develop their applications using Google technologies.

Android Developer Relations' (DevRel) team mission is to drive Android ecosystem success by making it easier and more valuable for developers to build high quality, responsible apps across devices. The team creates guidance that makes it easier for Android developers to be successful with Android and Google technologies, and we work with Google product and engineering teams to build better products for developers. By helping developers build better products with our technology, we enable amazing user experiences on the Android platform.


The Platforms and Ecosystems product area encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications). The products provide enterprises, and ultimately end users, the ability to utilize and manage their services at scale. We build innovative and compelling software products—from apps to TVs, from laptops to phones—that have an impact on people’s lives across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$144,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Work with developers to drive adoption of high quality Android Auto integrations.
  • Provide engineering direction and assistance to design, build, launch, and improve developer products.
  • Become an expert in the relevant Android Auto developer products and APIs, and identify opportunities for Google and developers to create better products for users.
  • Collaborate with Android Auto product teams and engineering teams to deliver the most relevant developer narrative to Android Developers.
  • Work with external developers, generate developer insights, create written guidance, write example code, author blog posts, design APIs, propose product changes, influence engineering plans, discover developer stories, and inspire developers.
