THIS IS AN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION IN THE FIELD OF SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS.
SAT & SUN – 1 PM to 10 PM / WEEKDAY SWING SHIFTS – 1 PM to 10 PM
Who we are:
The Empire Hotel Alcohol Rehabilitation, Inc., (EHARC, Inc.) dba Empire Recovery Center, Inc., is a non-profit agency whose purpose is to provide substance use disorder treatment opportunities through a continuum of services, including short-term, residential, and outpatient services. The Empire has been in operation in the North State for over forty-five years.
Empire Recovery Center (ERC) is looking to fill the following positions: Residential Program Support and Detox Support. These positions ensure the safety and security of our 24/7 residential program(s) and its participants by providing coverage when regular staff is out. These positions are after hours and outside the normal hours of operation.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Ensure that all program participants adhere to program rules and regulations.
· Ensure the safety and security of the residents and the participants during the assigned shift.
· Maintain appropriate logs and files for each shift.
· Read log entries at the beginning of each Shift and communicate information as appropriate at the end of each shift.
· Monitor participant’s requirements, if any, such as chores, curfew, etc.
· Respond calmly and effectively to all emergencies and report information to the appropriate supervisor.
· Offer support to participants.
· Treat each participant with respect and dignity
· Establish appropriate boundaries with participants.
· Some shifts may require some janitorial tasks and laundry services
· Participants in detox must be observed every 30 minutes
· Engage all participants by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
· Attend & participate in team meetings and supervision as requested and communicate effectively with participants and staff in other areas.
· Maintain confidentiality of participants, fellow employees, and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
· Ensure compliance with program/department, agency, and/or funder requirements, as well as, ERC policies & procedures.
· Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
· Minimum HS diploma or GED
· Sensitivity to low-income families of diverse backgrounds
· Ability to work independently
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Accuracy in completing documentation and paperwork
· Understanding the disease concept of addiction and knowledge of the 12-step programs and harm reduction model is helpful.
What would make you successful in these roles?
Certification as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor in CA or Registered and actively working on the certification.
Experience with substance use and human services direct services or supervision experience
Demonstrated knowledge of alcoholism/addiction treatment and Motivational Interviewing concepts and techniques
Able to handle and de-escalate emergency situations; CPR/First-aid training is required.
Flexible schedule: must be willing to work days and nights on a rotating basis
If recovering alcoholic/addict must have one year of continuous sobriety
Valid California Driver's license
Must show a demonstrated knowledge of computers; including but not limited to, data input, internet navigation, Microsoft Word, etc. Ability to write clear narrative reports and treatment notes
Fingerprinting/Drug testing is required at the time of hire
