Deskside Support IT Project Manager:

The Deskside (DSS) Support IT Project Manager position will support the world’s largest automotive manufacturer in one of their manufacturing, logistics, part distribution center, research and development, engineering, or office facilities.  The Deskside Level 3 technician is aligned to a Cognizant Team Leader or Regional Service Manager for administrative and HR purposes but will take day to day work direction from the supported customer. 

The DSS IT Project Manager, or Information Technology Project Manager, assists in planning, organizing, and implementing technical projects as directed by the customer. Main duties include coordinating production releases and rollouts, equipment installations, refreshes, or Moves, Adds, Changes, (MAC’s) within the environment, and delegating tasks to the necessary employees and presenting on projects’ progress and results.  DSS IT Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of any project in a company’s IT department, which includes leading a team of employees to ensure projects are completed on time and within their specified budgets. Some of an DSS IT Project Manager’s day-to-day duties include:

Required Skills:

         Setting project goals and coming up with plans to meet those goals.

         Maintaining project timeframes, budgeting estimates and status reports.

         Managing resources for projects, such as computer equipment and employees.

         Coordinating project team members and developing schedules and individual responsibilities.

         Implementing IT strategies that deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

         Using project management tools to track project performance and schedule adherence.

         Conducting risk assessments for projects.

         Organizing meetings to discuss project goals and progress.

         Advanced computer skills and in-depth knowledge of different operating systems, network administration and service desk administration.

         Project management and leadership skills for managing projects and the teams involved with them.

         Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and management and explain technical issues.

         Analytical and problem-solving skills to handle any issues that occur during project completion.

         Organization and time management skills to keep projects on track and within budget.

         Excellent resource planning and task scheduling skills.

         Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.

         Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them.

         Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.

         Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.

         Communicating with executives to keep the project aligned with their goals.

         Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.

         Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change.

         This is primarily a 1st shift role, but DSS IT Project Managersmust be available and willing to work alternate shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed to support assigned projects.  (Many projects are completed during production line shut down periods.)

         The DSS IT Project Manager must be willing and able to travel as needed to attend meetings or perform project activities at other customer locations.  (Expected travel <10%.)

·       Ability to lift 50 lbs. and be able to climb ladders and staircases to access IT equipment.

·       Ability to walk long distances quickly as needed within the plant.  (Very large facility.)

Nice to Have Skills:

         Experience using a ticket management system for work prioritization and daily workload management.

         Previous experience supporting a large corporate, manufacturing environment.

         Blended intermediate to advanced technical skillsets including workstations, networking, servers, communications, and other common IT equipment.

         ITIL Certification is considered a plus.

         Networking certifications considered a plus, CCNP, CCIE, CCNE, MCSE etc.

         Experience with Plant Monitoring Software (Active Plan, Wonderware, Ignition.)

         Experience with Cisco VOIP, SQL Server, Storage, Backup, VMWare, vSphere.
