We are seeking an experienced Desk Auto Claim Manager to join our team. This individual will lead and oversee Rural Mutual's Desk Auto unit and will ensure timely and accurate resolution of Auto Claims while maintaining a high level of customer service. This manager will oversee adjusters handling various aspects of auto insurance claims, including auto physical damage, liability evaluation, property damage, medical payments, and some bodily injury. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in auto insurance, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to build our growing auto unit. This position may work remotely in Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of Auto Claims professionals, providing guidance and support in the resolution of Auto Claims.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional development among direct reports.
• Implement and enforce best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the auto team.
• Assign claims and manage claim inventories for each adjuster.
• Maintains diaries to ensure thorough investigations are conducted and file documentation adheres to the Best Practices.
• Review reserves for adequacy, timeliness of updates, and reinsurance involvement.
• Provide constructive feedback and implement corrective actions to address any deficiencies in claims handling.
• Coordinate resources with other functions such as subrogation, casualty, field, and desk unit.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to improve the overall customer experience throughout the claims process.
• Resolve escalated customer concerns and inquiries, demonstrating a commitment to excellent customer service.
• Develop a direct repair program and maintain our salvage and subrogation programs by working collaboratively with third-party vendors.
• Review satisfaction survey results.
• Perform annual employee reviews and evaluations.
• Provide support for after-hours claims and assist with coordination of the company's response to catastrophic weather events.
• Support and implement strategies to help achieve corporate goals.
• Required travel to our corporate office in Madison and various meeting locations throughout the state.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., insurance, business administration, risk management) or equivalent work experience.
• Previous supervision/management experience or a minimum of five years of auto-adjusting experience.
• Possesses a profound understanding of claims file management, investigation, and settlement procedures, as well as extensive knowledge of automobile mechanics, repair processes, and automotive insurance policies.
• Experience handling bodily injury claims.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with policyholders, claimants, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other relevant software applications.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Understanding of insurance regulations and compliance standards.
• Strong decision-making, prioritization, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills.
• Ability to perform in a self-motivated environment.
• CPCU designation preferred.
• Bilingual Abilities (Spanish, Hmong, etc.) are a plus.
