Job description

Michael Baker International is seeking a Design Systems Specialist to shape the future of our CAD/BIM Systems and Engineering Applications.  This position will be a CAD/BIM Application expert that will design our CAD infrastructure, optimize our design processes, and contribute to the success of exceptional AEC projects.   

The CADD Systems Specialist is part of the growing CADD and BIM Systems division of the Engineering and Design Technologies team.  The Engineering and Design Technologies team centralizes design and engineering technologists to enable our verticals to leverage technology to improve their workflows and identifies technology inserts to drive revenue growth. 

The successful candidate will provide direction and support to project delivery teams across Michael Baker's core practices and collaborate with designers and engineers to develop, document, and distribute CAD/BIM system configurations and workflows to enhance project delivery efficiency and deliverable quality.  

 
Essential Duties: 

  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and support of CADD and BIM applications. 
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and implement CAD/BIM system improvements, tools, and techniques that enhance efficiency and productivity. 
  • Develop and configure CAD/BIM applications to implement standards and procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance across projects, practices, offices, and regions.   
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for CAD/BIM software, hardware, and related issues, resolving problems promptly to minimize downtime.  
  • Conduct regular system performance analyses, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to improve CAD/BIM system speed and stability. 
  • Remain current with the latest CAD/BIM technologies, tools, and industry trends, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our CADD and BIM System configurations. 
  • Collaborate with the IT department professionals to ensure seamless integration of CAD/BIM systems with other software applications and infrastructure. 
  • Train and mentor CAD/BIM users, assisting them with utilizing software functionality effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of CAD/BIM systems, configurations, and standard operating procedures.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements:  

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor's preferred) or equal experience in the AEC industry.
  • US Citizen or ability to work legally in the United States.
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in CAD/BIM system management or a similar role within the AEC industry.  
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AEC Applications, their configurations, and integrations, specifically: Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, ACC/BIM360, Infraworks, BIM Collaborate Pro, Vehicle Tracking, and ReCap Pro.  GIS and Autodesk integration proficiency preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Bentley's ProjectWise Design Integration.  ProjectWise 365 proficiency preferred.  
  • Solid knowledge of CAD/BIM system administration, including configuration management, deployment packaging, software installation and maintenance best practices. 
  • Familiarity with BIM concepts and software 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve CAD/BIM system issues. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with the latest CAD/BIM technologies and advancements. 

Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000.  This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
