Collins Aerospace is seeking hire a Design & Metrology Engineerresponsible for learning the fundamentals necessary to ensure compliant hardware is produced and to learn the fundamentals of Relentless Root Cause Analysis. This position allows you to develop a strong foundation and understanding of the key concepts and processes of Design and Metrology engineering. As the Design & Metrology Engineer, you will be contributing by constructing new designs, making modifications to existing tool designs along with digital inspections helping Collins Aerospace Systems to maintain its standing as one of the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products.

Primary Responsibilities

• Utilizing Catia V5 (3-D Cad System) construct and modify tool designs utilized for assembly of aircraft nacelle components.

• Perform analysis to production tooling and assembly hardware to ensure compliance by performing root cause analysis.

• Read and interpret specifications and engineering drawings/models.

• Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

• May utilize 3-D Measuring systems, Laser Trackers, Mini-CMM’s and Creaform Scanners and how they are used for positioning and inspecting aircraft tooling.

• Perform basic math calculations and conduct self-inspection / audits.

• Apply Lean concepts through Continuous Improvement events.

• You will multitask, problem solve, and manage resources along with effective time management and organizational skills. 

• Communicating and presenting design reviews to leadership and manufacturing engineers on team. 

• Utilize Microsoft office products to provide design and investigative results.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

• U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations require: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

• Minimum of 2 years utilizing Catia v5

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with aircraft assembly processes

• Knowledge of metrology concepts

• Understanding aircraft tooling concepts
