Job Description
The primary objective of this role is to provide design support to the fabrication shop by accessing digital design drawings and models and extracting necessary information for building components (i.e. cut files, print files, angles, dimensions, additional model views, etc.).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in office settings with exposure to a fabrication shop environment.
- Hours: 6am - 3pm or 7am-4pm (MON-FRI)
- Schedule will be discussed during interview and agreed upon by worker and Design Lead
- Pay: $20.00 - $24.00/hr
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the fabrication team by accessing digital drawing files to extract dimensional information as required.
- Generate cut files for flat bed machining (in form of clean .dxf files indicating all necessary information for CNC milling)
- Generate print files for additive manufacturing (in form of clean solid models to be used for slicing and 3D printing)
- Modify 3D mesh and solid models to introduce break lines, flanges and keys to aid with fabrication and assembly of sub-components
- Communicate with Design Lead on design development changes, challenges, and proposed solutions.
- Implement corrective measures for identified deficiencies and issues.
- Support design and shop fabrication teams with any needs related to fabrication and installation process.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions regarding constructability issues.
- Perform constructive reviews conforming design to contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate design documents and provide additional design detailing where needed.
- Transferring paper drawing mark-ups onto digital pdf drawing documents for “as-built” tracking.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills and Attributes
Required:
- High School Diploma
- Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD software and general computer proficiency.
- Basic understanding of architectural and technical fabrication drawings.
- Ability to create, read and decipher blueprints.
- Strong interpersonal and personal skills including an ability to adapt to constant change or sense of urgency and ability to multitask while communicating effectively.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related technical design field
- Minimum of 3-years’ experience in construction or fabrication within theming industry.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Inventor, 3D Studio Max, Rhino and Bluebeam.
