Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for the development and documentation of product designs in a cross-functional engineering team environment.  Provides support to other departments including manufacturing, sales, and quality.  The product line revolves around high-performance electro-mechanical aircraft systems and components including integrated structures, navigation, and communication components. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Communicates with customer to establish understanding of product technical requirements.  Provides technical information to support creation of proposals for customers by reviewing and interpreting specifications and requirements. 
  • Creates designs by analyzing product or equipment specifications, performance requirements, and existing manufacturing capabilities.  Performs basic design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of products by applying fundamental engineering principals and established analytical tools.  
  • Demonstrates ability to consider pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and cost-defining recommendations.  
  • Supports the creation of select engineering reports, aircraft operational manual supplements, and change orders that make up the product design data package. 
  • Routinely demonstrates the ability to access Company product data management system to retrieve drawings that require review and/or change.  Reviews complex drawings and layouts to ensure clarity, completeness, form, fit, function, and conformity to standards.  Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies.  Implements revisions and process/standard improvements.     
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.  Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the Engineering Department.   
  • Maintain technical knowledge by conferring with technical specialists and suppliers, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. 
  • Participates in Department organizational improvement initiatives that involve cross-functional team settings and responsibilities.

SALARY INFORMATION

In compliance with multiple state's wage transparency laws, the hourly rate for this position will be $25 - $27. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Carlisle Interconnect Technology reviews factors such as but not limited to responsibilities of the position, scope of work, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal pay equity, as well as market considerations when extending an offer.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis

  • Associate degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Excel, Wore, Teams and E-mail in professional environment.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must maintain industry certifications as applicable to position and value stream that is supported. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

 

JOB SKILLS

  • Knowledge about the operation and design of aircraft electrical and avionics systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulatory certification requirements for aircraft electrical and avionics systems is a plus.
  • Strong MS Office skills: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel.  
  • Optimally utilizes all channels of communications.
  • Works will in cooperation with internal/external customers for the benefit of the organization.
  • Develops creative solutions to challenging problems.
  • Makes sound decisions under pressure.
  • Displays consistency, dependability, and accuracy in carrying out responsibilities to a successful conclusion.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Carlisle IT Franklin is a clean facility housing different kind of machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic.  These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs.  In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection. 

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses
  • Hearing protection, in specific locations 
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas
