Our team in Moog's Space & Defense Group is looking for a Development Engineer to join them. You will report to the Mechanical Design Analysis Sr. Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY.
Overview:
A variety of technical roles exist within the Design/Development Engineering Function. The Design Analysis Engineer will contribute to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and test of complex control hardware used on military, commercial and NASA vehicles and equipment. The products of Moog generally are unique for each customer. Therefore, most new applications require a special, tailored design, even though adaptation of existing designs always should be considered where appropriate. The Design Analysis Engineer will operate as part of a design/development team, which includes other Department engineers. The incumbent will have partial or full responsibility of the product's detailed analytical assessment to support design verification within the challenging structural and thermal environments imposed on space and defense hardware.
Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Engineering plus four years of experience in the development of mechanical devices or control systems. MS Degree without applicable experience will also be accepted.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical hardware design and finite element analysis
Responsibilities:
• Operate as a contributing member in a team of creative, independent individuals.
• Perform detailed mechanical stress, deflection, and thermal analysis on a variety of space and defense hardware through, but not limited to, finite element and finite difference modeling techniques.
• Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and various analyses techniques including but not limited to hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis.
• Determine design margins using appropriate analysis methods based on the complexity of the design challenge.
• Review of system or component specifications to determine required analyses and margin assessments.
• Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews.

Salary Range:
The base pay range for this opportunity is $70,000 - $95,000 per year

Actual salaries will vary depending on many factors such as skills, experience, certifications and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
