Derivatives Attorney

POSITION SUMMARY:
Director level legal counsel responsible for managing various operational and legal risks across the Mizuho Americas group of companies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provide legal support to Mizuho Capital Markets, Mizuho Securities USA LLC and affiliated U.S. entities with respect to fixed income and structured derivatives, MRA, MSFTA and MSLAs, Non-disclosure agreements, various transactional and regulatory matters, as well as other general legal matters;
• Respond to inquiries from business units and other departments (trading/sales, market and credit risk, operations, finance and onboarding) regarding legal, credit or operational issues arising in the transaction documents and other related documentation or with respect to specific transaction terms;
• Advise Mizuho and its subsidiaries on derivatives matters, including CFTC/NFA rules and regulations;
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Law degree from an accredited law school in the United States preferred
• 3-6+ years experience at major bank or law firm
• Member in good standing of the New York Bar
• Ability to learn new concepts quickly
• Understanding of financial markets
• Detail oriented and collaborative team player
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Capable of completing work independently
• Excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills
• Committed work ethic
