Job DescriptionIn a time of unprecedented expansion, we are seeking an experienced Deputy General Counselto help lead our growing Legal department. In this position, you will work directly with our General Counsel, COO, CFO and other key executive leaders. The position requires leading the development of a sophisticated proactive compliance program that matches the company’s increasing compliance challenges amid rapid growth. This includes leading the implementation of specific compliance programs and advising business leaders strategically on compliance matters across multiple divisions. You will also assist with other Legal department work, including transactional and international matters and the supervision of other in-house counsel as appropriate. The successful candidate will be an analytical thinker who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. Great organizational skills, people skills, flexibility and the ability to work seamlessly with multiple internal and external partners are also a must.
A day in the office looks like this:
- Assist with managing Lakeshore’s overall compliance program
- Work on specific matters, including advising business leaders
- Support other Legal department practice areas
- Assist with managing the Legal department
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active member of the California State Bar Association
- 12+ years of legal experience, some of which should be in-house focusing on compliance
- Transactional and/or international experience a plus
- Experience managing other in-house colleagues a plus
- Ability to help create a comprehensive compliance program
- Strong business acumen, reflected in how legal advice is provided
- Experience managing outside counsel
- Proven problem-solving skills and sound judgment
- Superb written and oral communication skills
- Strong client-service orientation
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment

- Salary: $250,000-$350,000 with an annual bonus of up to 20%
